self-stagnated,

This review is from: Self-Inflicted (Audio CD)
When i first listened to this album Leather Strip was defintely my favourite band. I was fond of Larsen's earlier albums and thought 'Legacy of Hate...' and 'Rebirth of Agony' were two of the best 10 electronic albums ever. It was increidble the evolution of that band, which had incorporated new elements, gothic and romantic, to their harsh music... Then 'Self-Inflicted' was released and I was obviously eager to know what he was able to do after the wonderful 'Rebirth...' BUT when I began to listen this work I got more and more disappointed... the first 2 tracks were a back to the roots but without adding anything interesting to me... and the whole album, with some amazing exceptions ('Coming up for air', 'Under my control'), reveals to me a dangerous stagnation compared to their earlier albums. the vocal effects are always the same, very repetitive, the beats are almost identical... it seems as if the, IMO, unfair criticisms on his evolution shown in the previous 2 albums he had decided to forget all about it and return to his roots. I suppose many fans must have loved that... I don't.

Claus Larsen at his best!,
This review is from: Self-Inflicted (Audio CD)
Coming in second to only Solitary Confinment, this is Claus Larsen at his very best! This album consists of nothing but pure unadulterated sheer aggression! Caution: Listening to this album may result in climbing the local clocktower with a high powered sniper rifle.

LEather Strip,
By Todd (Vanilla Mountain) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Self-Inflicted (Audio CD)
Leather Strip is one of the longest running, and one of the most sucessful Industrial acts to date. Combing heavy and melodramatic sounds it blends to become one of my favorite bands. IF you like Wumpscut,. Front Line Assembly, or Haujobb, check out LEather Strip
