I have to say that this CD made me a believer; I was skeptical at first but listening to all the songs made me change my mind. If you are looking for something different with great productions, this is a CD you might want to add to your collection. The major producers are Drumma Boy and Marvelous J and all the tracks are on point. I can decipher who made the beats for...

I got the joy of a co-worker buying this CD and giving me the opportunity to skim it on the way to lunch. He told me I have to hear the track "Umma do me". Yay, more formulatic hip hop garbage perpetuating the stereotype that rappers are idiots. Woo hoo. Where have you gone Paris? Where have you gone KRS-One? I'll just start with the do me song. First off, nice title. Is Umma a word I missed in my 16 years of schooling? As an english lit major, I thought I had seen most every word. Evidently not. Second, can this guy rap any slower? Sometimes I hear tracks, both rock and rap, and say to myself that I wish I had that kind of talent. There is not a person alive that doesn't have this guy's "talent". He raps slow, it's boring and has no point.

The rest of the CD is predictable with original ideas for songs like, "Dis Morning", "Hustle Fo", and "That's my money". Wow, I'm blown away. No one writes stuff like that in hip hop today. Dis afternoon umma going to go home without buying this piece of junk. The only hard decision is whether this is better or worse than Soulja Boy. Average just plowed into the barbed wire fence that is me again.

Dang homie. What happened to lyrics. He sound like Lil' Wayne...not realizing Wayne washed up. All his beats sound the same. If you got Young Jeezy 2005 classic "Trap or Die" mixtape....you listening to the same thing. He got T-Pain on a hook. Dont everybody. What happened to being original. The artist from the South suck.Sad part about it, I'm from the South. What happened to the real Def Jam? Russell, come back!

Obvisouly, Rocko is just another lame, wack, dumb one-hit wonder (even though his song wasnt exactley a hit in the first place). His album is garbage, nobody bought it. Niether should you. Just let him fade away like the rest of them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rocko, Shut the F*ck up!, April 5, 2009
This review is from: Self-Made (Audio CD)
After seeing that video for that retarded song: Umma Do Me,here is my conclusion-Rocko is another garbage pop, ringtone, crunk, snap wrapper. I can't even watch the whole song without getting mad. All he's doing is bragging in your face of how much better he is than you. How can people stand this type of garbage? A second grader can write better Rocko. It makes me wonder how can Monica love this egotistical non-talented loser. Monica deserves a way better man than him! Anyways, don't buy this album and don't support Rocko!

I have to say that this CD made me a believer; I was skeptical at first but listening to all the songs made me change my mind. If you are looking for something different with great productions, this is a CD you might want to add to your collection. The major producers are Drumma Boy and Marvelous J and all the tracks are on point. I can decipher who made the beats for certain songs. Now for the positive and negative; he does sound a little like Jeezy but you cannot knock him for the way he sounds. On the other hand, for the positive, I like how he does not have many collaborations because you get more of Rocko and no one else. Also, I am glad he did not have his girl, Monica, on many of the tracks because people would judge and/or analyze him as being a "coat rider" but that is not the point at all. So, I would advise if you want to digress from the MTV or BET antics try this CD out...you will not be disappointed!!!

With a brief skim I can tell that he has lots of potential, but chose to go a little to mainstream. Basic topics are money, cars, clothes, and yup u guessed it, hoes. I look forward to see what Rocko can do in the future.

Rocko isn't somebody new to me despite this being his first album. i've first heard him back in 2003 with his first mixtape release. this album actually isn't that bad and has a lot of potential if the right single's were released. Also there were alot of tracks off the Swag Season mixtape that would've been better options for the album such as Yeen Talkin' Bout Money with Juezl Santana, Still On The Grind with Rick Ross, and Striped with Shawty lo just to name a few.

Rocko burst on the scene with his debut album self-made with the single umma do me, I wasn't too excited about his album because I really don't listen to guys like this, but after listening to it I was rather impressed, let me get something straight it was nothing you would listen to because you want to have revelations, but when your riding around in your car and just want to get hype its pretty good.

My top 5 tracks:
1.karma
2.Dis morning
3.old skool
4.like this here
5.snakes
