The author mentions in the introduction that the tips in this book apply to apartment dwellers but really, this is for folks who have lots of land and space. Who, living in an apartment, has room to store the quantities of food she recommends? 30lbs of rice per person? 60lbs of oils per person (she recommends shortening)? Freezers full of flour, powdered milk, etc?

I picked up this book because it is called GARDENING tips but the first sections are on stocking up at the store, preserving (meat), canning, root cellars, cooking with wood, solar ovens etc. I expected "gardening tips" to be related to actually growing plants. Maybe there are some actual gardening tips later in the book but there is no index at all and I've gone through 40% of the book without finding it.

This book does give some good ideas about what types of supplies should be stored up for being self suffifient, i.e., prepping....but there isnt much about how to grow and harvest a garden to help with being self sufficient. It has some good harvesting yield charts and some recipies for herbs, etc., but I was hoping for more details on what to grow, how to grow it, preserving seeds, how to store harvests with shelf lives for each. That is what I expected to see based on the title. In all the book has some good prepping suggestions. I would suggest the author revisit the book title.

Approximately 101 tips, but not necessarily gardening as much as self-sufficiency. Part apocalypse preparedness, part cook book, part gardening tips.

This book strays from the topic, contains grammatical and spelling errors, and is generally a bore. Many of the tips are related to canning or other topics only partly related to gardening. Moreover, the layout (as suggested by the title) is basically one long list, which is fine, but then a lot of the information is repetitive. I don't mean the same idea in different words, but the same idea cut and pasted from the previous chapter.
I bet if you sat down with the author for a chat, or worked in the garden or kitchen for a day you would have a great time and learn a lot, However, as far as the book goes, you could easily find a better list on the internet for free.

Hard to read and info seems to be outdated. But for the price it was worth it for future reference.
