This book entertained me. I've read a lot of books like this, some stuff are similar. Like she's in high school, there's a guy involved. But on this one, she knows that she is an elf! Unlike most of the books I've read in the past where they have no idea that they are not humans! There are villains, of course, but they are not as evil as the others that I have read. Overall, it is a good read! Good ending too!

In book 2 of the series, teen elf Zephyr and her cousin Briar cast love spells on the "erdler" (human) boys of their dreams while having to battle dark elves.

I loved the first book (Me, My Elf & I) mostly for the characters, so I was thrilled to revisit them in this sequel. In the first book, Zephyr is a fish-out-of-water, but we also got to see her normal elf side when she went back home and visited her cousin Briar. I really liked the dynamics in their friendship, so I was happy to see Briar have a bigger role in this book. I was especially captivated by the elf circle dance the girls do when they're casting their spell. I just generally love Zephyr's infectious enthusiasm for life and her love for her family and their woodsy ways.

I enjoyed this book a lot. I read Me, My Elf and I and was jonesing for this one until it finally came out. This is a cute book about teenagers in a creative performing arts school with talent and drive. I love how it handles what it means to be driven by the need to express yourself creatively. Another thing that is special about this book is the strong and cool sense of place -- both Brooklyn and Alverland -- that is fascinating to someone not from those parts. The girls doing a dance in the snow in Prospect Park, and the rituals in Alverland are fascinating and beautiful. When my daughters are old enough to be ready for young adult, I'd love for them to read these. Smut factor is very low, though, so I think a 10 / 12-year-old would be fine with the material.
