Pros and Cons,

I am a Boy Scout from Troop 70 East Setauket, New York. I bought this sleeping bag hoping to poke some fun with my friends during the campouts or scare them and run around camp. It is a great conversation starter, often getting comments and questions to get one. This is a great piece of equipment to take camping, here are my results from my camping experience.Pros: - Light weight - 3 Compressing belt buckles on the sack. - Stuff sack is actually a "stuff sack" which you can stuff the sleeping bag in anywhich way without rolling it up. Saves packing time and insulation fluff is actually good quality. - You will not sweat in this sleeping bag because of the synthetic fabric and large leg zippers for breathing - Also has hand zippers for a little sleeve if you want some hot chocolate. - Hood has a drawsting to pull close the empty space between your face and the hood. - Maneuverable (running is possible) and great for sleeping in various positions, instead of the "mummy" in regular sleeping bags. - Comes with a padded cloth feet pad to run around - Easy to wash (cold with soap) and dry (tumble 30 min) - Storage is easy, fits perfectly in a large macy's bag when not in use, so fluff does not compress and lose insulation ablilty. Cons: - NOT WATERPROOF! Water resistent maybe a raindrop or two but thats it. Tested in rain myself, bad outcome. - NOT FOR WINTER CAMPING! The Selk bag 1 is not but #3 is better. If you insist to bring this sleepware on cold weather camping, wear a sweatshirt over a t-shirt with long john and sweatpants in order to keep warm and prevent hypothermia. - NON STRETCHABLE. Buy one size bigger than yourself. I outgrew mine after a few months. - Wrap Zipper handles with electrical tape or the zipper tag will rip off after a few uses. - DO NOT DO JUMPING JACKS. Armpit seams are the weakest. Sewed mine after a small tear. Overall, Pros out weigh the cons. The most significant draw back for me was the WATERPROOFING. I was hoping it be waterproof on the outside but other than that issue it functions very well breathing and mobility wise. A great buy and at this cheap price of $80 from the original $250 when I originally got when it first came out, I actually bought several more for friends as a holiday present! If you are not the camping and outdoorsman type, this is actually great for couch potatoing at home. Watching your favorite movies in this is certainly better than wearing the snuggie and flipping channels. Plus, its warm and cozy after you break into it in 5 minutes or so.

Awesome Bag!,

After seeing the Selk 'bag in an outdoors magazine I knew I needed one.I sleep on my side with my lower arm under my pillow and my legs slightly bent so camping in a standard mummy bag just isn't comfortable. This bag is all about comfort. I've used it about 10 different times, including bon-fires on the beach, sleeping topside on our sailboat, and a recent three-day backpacking trip to Yosemite, CA. I love this bag. Downsides: - The bag doesn't pack as small as my wife's mummy bag but that's to be expected since the Selk 'bag does have more material and stuffing. - A bit expensive for a sleeping bag. Upside: - Comfortable bag - way, way super comfortable. - Every one that sees the bag is intrigued about it. - I can go wee without having to climb out of the bag. - Just plain cool - cooler than cool beans!

I am typing this review while wearing my new Selk bag. I live my life being cold, and yet I am currently a pleasant temperature.Although you could not pay me enough to go camping, this sleeping bag was something that I planned to invent, until I discovered that someone had already done so. If you are a person who is perpetually cold, even when the furnace is cranked to 24șC (and your husband is insisting that you turn it down), then this is the best item for you. I previously also owned a high-quality mummy bag, and although warm and adequately suitable for use while watching television, it was not easy to move around in. When getting up to get another cup of hot cocoa, I would get cold all over again. The Selk bag provides complete mobility. If you are on the couch with a book or a laptop, the mummy bag forces your arms outside of the covering, while the Selk allows you to stay completely covered, and even to zip around your wrists so that minimal skin is exposed to the air. The quality seems high -- zippers are YKK zippers and the feet are reenforced so that you can wander around without catching a draft. I just wouldn't suggest trying to run up and down the stairs while wearing it. Perhaps this is because I regularly wear a size 6 dress and my Selk is size large... Enjoy!

This thing is pretty sweet. I got it with no specific use in mind, but have found myself using it all the time around the house. If you have the couple extra bucks I would definitely recommend it.

Our son is training to become an outdoor educator, and we liked the idea of the mobility this kind of sleeping bag offers. However, one of the zippers broke immediately. In comparison with a 'mummy bag', the Selk Bag 1 may not be as warm either, because arms and legs are kept away from the body. We also think that the Selk Bag is quite expensive. So we returned the bag to the seller.

This is a great sleeping bag for summer camping. It's also pretty fun to pose in, and you'll look awesome doing so.As far as actual usage goes, it kept me pretty warm, I think if anything my feet were the only thing that started getting a little cold in the morning. I imagine I could have just worn some thicker socks, but if there is one area that could be warmer, it would be the feet. Other than that, it's really easy to get into, the hand zippers were easy to deal with for the most part, though in an emergency, I'm not sure if I'd like my hands all the way zipped in. I wouldn't recommend sleeping on the ground with nothing but the selk bag. It may be warm enough, but there isn't much padding at all. If you have a foam pad or an air mattress, this would be perfect. The selk bag stores really well in the little bag it comes in, so it's really easy to pack and carry around. Overall I'm pleased with it, and will use it for any summer camping I do. I wouldn't want to camp in anything under 35-40 degrees though, unless I had another sleeping bag to slide in, or a blanket or something. There are colder weather versions though, but they cost 2-3 times as much (though I think they are similarly priced to other bags rated for cold temperatures).

I got this product for my husband to wear it while he plays his computer games. He loved it he thought it is a lot of fun! We both are on the skinny side so it feels a little bit oversized even so I got the medium. Probably while sleeping the size difference comes handy and makes sence. Our cat hated it because of the noise the material makes while you move in it but I think he will get use to it.
