I was very eager to receive this book and pre-ordered it before the release date. The content seemed up to date, which was a problem with prior books on the same subject. This was easy to read and the chapters were clearly stated with the subject matter. Overall I think this would be a good reference for somebody who is just starting to sell on Amazon. It did provide me with some insight as to how the levels of selling are established on Amazon, and I was able to move my business to the next level.

I liked this book very much. I found it to be well written, and well outlined. It was an easy read and it flowed for me. This book is not just about selling books (new and used) through Amazon. It had the feel of many of the eBay books I have read. And I've read a few books about eBay (one of which the author of this book has written). eBay's offerings are similar to Amazon's offerings for online retailers. But the specifics are different. Therefore, there is a need for this book. Only one book exists that I am aware of (besides this book) that tries to explain how to use Amazon as a retail sales helper in the same way eBay can be used. That other book, entitled "How to Sell Anything on Amazon" (ISBN: 9780072262605), was written back in 2006 and from the reviews I just read indicate that it did not come across as a true primer on how to be successful selling on Amazon. And it has become a little dated, too. The instant book being reviewed is a small business guide. It talks about using Amazon to do online retailing. It's not just a book about how to do different things on Amazon. It talks about Choice of Legal Entity for your business, naming your business, and marketing options and techniques, too. Accordingly, it does not merely paraphrase help blurbs that can be found on the Amazon site. The author has written this book by talking about what he has done over the past several years to make a living selling on Amazon. He hasn't used Amazon exclusively, but he clearly knows what he is talking about. He is an online bookseller (and author)! However, the book is written in general terms so a retailer of ANY product will benefit from reading this book. If you are putting together a business plan for an online retail business in which you plan to use Amazon as a sales vehicle, then I cannot think of a better book to have by your side. Sure, you will have to experiment with the Amazon site as you read, or after you read, this book. But it's well worth parting with the cover price to help you on your way to creating your business plan. And a failure to plan is a plan to fail. 5 stars! PS. Take a look at the Search Insides feature for this book and examine the Table of Contents to see exactly what is covered.

Great Info for Amazon.com Sellers,

I purchased Sell on Amazon becuase I recently started selling items on Amazon.com and was a little confused on how the process worked. A lot of the information I have researched online and other books I have read provide good information but it's outdated. This book had a lot of repetitive information that I already knew, or could have easily found out by going to the Amazon help section, however, the content was up-to-date.

Thorough, Thoughtful, and Well-Organized.,

This is a fascinating little book that specifically focuses on selling on Amazon. From beginning to end Steve Weber explains everything you need to know in clear, simple language that skips all the hype. He starts by really getting you up to speed on a full range of Amazon features. I mean he digs deep to ensure you understand how to get the most out of your account.
One of the most misunderstood aspects of Amazon is the "Fulfillment By Amazon" (FBA) service. If you ever wanted to know how it really works, and better yet, how to make it work for YOU, you'll find the definitive explanation here. He does more than just explain FBA. He clearly illustrates the costs, opportunities, and profit potential of participating in this outstanding program. His treatment of the subject is easily my favorite part of the book. Webber goes on to explain how you can increase your sales by competing against other sellers with your feedback scores, product reviews, the Amazon "social jungle", the positive and negative aspects of pay-per-click advertising, using tags, and Amazon Advantage. The book is short but concise and treats the major topics in a thorough but uncomplicated manner. It's an easy read, (that's always a plus), yet you come away with the feeling that you've significantly increased your knowledge. I think Steve Weber hit another home run with "Sell On Amazon". If you're an Amazon seller it'll be a great reference tool. Five stars from me and a hearty "Good Luck!" to you and your business.

Most up-to-date book on selling on amazon,

I have been selling on amazon as a full time business for about 6 months. I have read about 6 or 7 other books on the subject, all of which had some value. I think if someone wanted just one book with the most information this would be it. It is the only one I know of that gets into Fulfillment by Amazon which is an awesome concept that will certainly change the way business is done in America. I also just changed to a different packaging material today as a result of Weber's information. Definitely worth the few bucks for a ton of info.

I have always sold my old books or CD's on Amazon.com, so I was curious to see what Steve Weber's new book could offer. I don't have a small business, but this well written, easy to read book got me thinking about selling at a larger scale. His section on `outsourcing' was intriguing (what IS that?). Finding `bargain inventory' was something I never even thought of before and selling in quantity sounded very promising. The thought of using my extra room as a 'tax haven' was a lot easier than I thought - with lots of information on "exactly" what is legal and what Amazon considers `good sales practices'. There were many options presented with all the information I needed for sales expansion. The sections on thieves, scammers and other nightmares took away all my fears dealing with that aspect. The best part is there are so many different levels you can take your sales to. I never even thought about developing a WEBPAGE for sales before. From the starter seller to the advanced salesperson, Weber covers all the bases from the potential hurdles to the rewarding advantages. This "story" is how people make money by telling other people how to make money. I like that.

Incredible Source of Information in Amazon Retailing,
This review is from: Sell on Amazon: A Guide to Amazon's Marketplace, Seller Central, and Fulfillment by Amazon Programs (Paperback)
When I first saw that Steve Weber had written a book on Amazon retailing, I thought "Selling on Amazon is easy. Why would he write a book about it?" I just finished reading it, and it blew me away. There is so much about selling on Amazon that I didn't know.
Table of Contents: Introduction Get Started on Amazon Mange Inventory Stay on the Law's Right Side Stay on Amazon's Good Side Kick it up a Notch Source Used Items for Sell Explore Seller Central Handle Your Fulfillment Outsource Your Fulfillment Compete with Feedback Explore the Social Jungle Pay-Per Click Advertising Your Own Website Amazon Advantage The first thing I did after reading his book was change my seller ID. I didn't like the one I had, and I had no idea how to change it. Now it's fixed. After reading "Sell on Amazon," I learned that some items are prohibited for sale by certain third-party sellers. Weber suggests that you print a packing slip with every item you ship. The packing slip should include your e-mail address and the link www.amazon.com/feedback. The slip should also contain a message that prompts the buyer to contact you if he/she is unsatisfied with your service. Brandon Simpson

I am looking to learn how to sell on amazon and there wasn't much in this book that I hadn't already discovered from searching the site, and not a lot of how to's or step by steps.

As a longtime small seller on Amazon and other sites, I read Steve Weber's new book thinking that I would find a lot of material I was already familiar with. In fact, there was a fair amount of information that, while vital to new sellers, would be old hat to old timers. But there was plenty here to make it well worth my while.
Sell on Amazon outlines the basics of selling on Amazon as well as getting into the more advanced topics, such as Fulfillment by Amazon, promoting your products, and using Amazon in conjunction with your own website. Weber also addresses the social networking aspects of Amazon, such as lists, friends, and discussion boards. These can all be of help in becoming a more successful seller on Amazon and other sites. Sell on Amazon has an amazing amount of information for such a short book. There is no filler here; every page has useful advice, hints, links, illustrations, step-by-step instructions. The index has been well thought out and together with the detailed table of contents, you should be able to find just about any topic you want. This is an excellent reference book for the Amazon seller. Even if you already have Weber's previous book The Home-Based Bookstore, Sell on Amazon will be a useful addition. It covers selling more than just books, and is updated with all the seller programs Amazon has added in the past few years.
