Please do not purchase this book!, October 20, 2009
This review is from: Sell Your Photos on IStockphoto (Paperback)
I am far from being a successful microstock photographer, but I do have aspirations. That's why I purchased this book. This is the dumbed down, simplified, lightened version of the most basic book about microstock I have ever seen or even heard about. Please, do yourself a favor and do not make the mistake of purchasing it.
The "book" consists of a total of 28 pages, not including the inside front and back covers, both of which are blank. Of the 28 available pages, the last five are blank, except for a bar code and "Made in the USA" at the bottom of the very last page. We are now down to only 23 pages inside the book that have anything on them. Don't worry about eye strain while reading this book, because the major component is white space.
Embedded in the text are "Insider Tips" #1 through #4. In a section toward the end titled "More Tips" there are another set of 5 tips listed. There are 14 photos and one what I think of as an illustration that might also qualify as a photo. While not particularly large, these photos do take up quite a bit of space. When you add in the extra line spacing, all of the white space, the 5 blank pages and all the photos, there is not much room left for real information.
Essentially, it has taken me longer to write this review than it did to read the entire book. If you want a really good example of a really bad example for instructional material, buy this book. Otherwise do not waste your money.

Insider Tips on IStockphoto, March 9, 2009
The book covers insider tips on selling your photographs on IStockphoto including an interview with David Lewis and IStock photgrapher who makes over $50,000 a year selling photos on IStock. Lewis is an amateur photographer who does this in addition to his regular (non-photography day job). The book covers subjects such as passing the submission test, choosing a camera, and selecting a topic or theme for your photo submissions. The short book is very direct and should get the attentive student up and running in no time. Most of the authors tips are applicable for most online photo services.
