5.0 out of 5 stars The Path to an Online Success, February 14, 2012
This review is from: Sell Your Crafts Online (Kindle Edition)
This book helped me expand my girlfriend's small business into an enterprise where she is truly getting excited about making a lot of money now. She sells necklaces - one of each sign of the zodiac - and having lovingly made them all by herself she plugged them on etsy and eBay but in reality it was hard work getting the message out there.

Since I showed her this book she has been able to fine tune and expand her business and the rewards are already flying in. We have even got her listed up as high as page three on Google thanks to the SEO tips.

5.0 out of 5 stars Last Word on Internet Selling, May 22, 2011

This review is from: Sell Your Crafts Online (Kindle Edition)
Anyone selling products or services online knows how complex the job is. It is a crowded market out there, with rules and tools of the game changing very fast. There is no guarantee for success, unless one masters the tricks of the trade and catches up with the latest trends in the web world. There is no chance here for the uninitiated.

James Dillehay has undergone all these since he joined the bandwagon in 1984. He has continued to hone his skills in the area as a researcher, guerrilla marketing guru and author, while weaving his handcrafted items and selling them online very successfully. He has more than fifty websites showcasing his crafts. A potential seller of artifacts online is bound to feel secure in the hands of such an experienced and practical trainer.

Dillehay has organized his book very scientifically into parts. While one part offers a comprehensive list of places to promote and sell crafts online, the other part shows how to organize all the possible marketing venues into a manageable system. There is a storehouse of information and guidance on both the fronts, in fact more than 500 killer ideas.

One thing I specially liked about the book is the inclusion of a very innovative `Marketing Calendar' which provides a semblance of order in the chaotic world for the of internet marketing. It also gives a roadmap for future for the seller.

The discussion on the practical uses of popular social marketing is an eye opener for the new entrant in the trade. The use of social marketing in ecommerce can only be ignored at one's peril. The book also delves deep into the world of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) skills which are now sure tools of success in internet selling.

The book contains comprehensive guidelines on internet marketing in general and info on crafts marketing in particular. The utmost care the author has taken in reminding about small but essential facets of business such as business etiquettes, free publicity, and offline advertisement are praiseworthy.

I found the book as the last word on online selling of handicrafts, and a very useful guide for any type of e-commerce at the present times.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great ideas for my crafing business, May 22, 2011
This review is from: Sell Your Crafts Online (Kindle Edition)
I've been selling my own crafts online (and at shows) for years, but I learned so much from this book that I couldn't wait to get started. I was selling on etsy (of course) and I knew about some of the other sites that I could sell on, but I had no idea that there were so many. This book lists 70+ sites that you can put your stuff on to sell, and even better, how to make it into on giant presence, instead of 70 little ones. The book also shows new ways to promote, advertise, and get more people viewing your stuff -- and what to do with those people who look but don't buy on their first visit. I'm already using many of the tips in the book, and will be rolling out many more over the summer!
