2.0 out of 5 stars Very Basic Intro to Radio Sales, July 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Selling Air: How to Jump-Start Your Career in Radio Sales (Paperback)
I bought this book as I am pursuing a radio sales career, so I wanted something that would give me a jump start, as the title promised. This book is thin not only in pages, but in content. Sorry, I WANTED to like it - the cover and title were attention-grabbing and promising, but the content was so very basic and didn't get me very far in comparison with the other two books I ordered on this topic. This gives you broad suggestions like a description of all the departments in a typical radio station. It didn't offer nearly as many prospecting and business-building techniques as hoped. If you want some tips on how to land your first radio sales position, how to approach the interview etc. then this book might be somewhat helpful, as it covers how to get the job and how to orient yourself within the station itself, but it doesn't offer nearly as much info on how to succeed once you get the job.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Basic, October 14, 2008

Xavier B (Vancouver, BC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Selling Air: How to Jump-Start Your Career in Radio Sales (Paperback)
I bought this book thinking that it would be a quick intro to radio sales and actually selling radio. Instead it is a basic tour of the basics - the same stuff you get in your orientation at a new station. Maybe it's useful in small markets but it was way to basic to be of use for me. Not a good investment.
