5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Have for New Antique Dealers December 7, 2010
By Colleen
Format:Kindle Edition
If you are thinking about getting a space in an antiques mall, or you've had one for a year or two, then you will find helpful tips from start to finish. Inis and Sue cover everything from choosing an antiques mall to ideas on where to find merchandise to sell. It is simply the best resource on the market today for anyone thinking about jumping into the antiques business.

The title is misleading, since the information contained inside goes far beyond selling in an antiques mall. Even if you sell on eBay or Etsy, a local antiques market or own your own brick and mortar shop, this eBook contains enough helpful tips to make it worth the low price.

Since I've been selling at antique markets and shops for ten years, I was worried that it wouldn't contain enough information for me. But I found a lot of helpful advice, particularly in the second half of the book:

* Using Display Pieces
* Faux Walls
* Tips and Tricks of Display
* Inventory Record-Keeping
* Storage Unit Auctions

It is definitely worth the money for new dealers, and also for existing dealers who want to move their antiques booth/biz to the next level.

I read a lot and have read a few books lately about buying and selling antiques and books, several which I'd give 4 and 5 stars. Two books I've felt shortchanged with however, and this is one of them. It is quite a short book and the price is $9.99 as I write this. I should have listened to the other reviewer who gave 2 stars. I read the sample I downloaded and wanted more...problem is, I didn't get much more than the sample offered. The reader is basically told to clean all the items you bring to your booth and get an antique space in a good location. Make the booth display attractive so shoppers want to buy. There is a bit about inventory taking and bookkeeping, which may be helpful to some but not me - I was hoping for much more about decorating and displaying in your booth. I was hoping for some really helpful tips. The writer (or maybe there are two) has a nice writing style, but if you're going to charge $9.99 for this book, it shouldn't be something that can be read in an hour. The writing style is great and the author appears knowledgeable. I liked the few pictures that accompanied the book also, but in the end I felt shortchanged. The author(s) promised to provide tips learned over the years that you can avoid if you read the book, but making your booth look nice is just common sense? I think I've learned my lesson with Ebooks - if they have only a couple of reviews, those good reviews may be written by friends. Had the book been $1.99 or $2.99 I would give a much higher rating. I almost didn't write a review but had even one more person written one like this, I wouldn't have purchased. I have sold on Ebay a decade and Amazon a few years and have 100% positive feedback on both as I write this - I don't like leaving a negative review but they are so helpful to me as a potential buyer. This book could have been fantastic. UPDATE 2013. This book trendsetter - possibly expanded!

5.0 out of 5 stars Full of helpful information December 27, 2010
By Carol
Format:Kindle Edition
I downloaded the e-book and am very pleased. I haven't read all of it yet, but already have received enough helpful info to make it well worth the price. I may have to print out and highlight the page that advises against buying too many "projects"! That's my weakness.

2.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money October 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have two booths at antique malls and wanted advice from some pros. I thought this book would do it and I was wrong.
It wastes a lot of time telling readers to keep records, something we already knew. All in all I learned nothing. I have decided I could do a better job of writing it myself, even though I do not think I make enough money on my booth. It is also way too short to spend money on. Maybe it should be a free pamphlet. The whole thing was kind of like today's politicians, talking a lot and not saying anything.

5.0 out of 5 stars like no other book out there January 17, 2012
By solange
Format:Kindle Edition
This is exactly what I was looking for. I wish it sold as a hard back because I do not like the kindle books but that's just me. There is a lot of good advise and covered just about everything. I wanted to read more on book keeping and refinishing furniture. I was sad when I finished the book and could not find another one that was just as specific to running an antique booth. This is a must read and hope to see another book by the author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Informative March 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I value myself as somewhat business savvy with common sense. And although many things in this book is a bit common sense, I did pick up an abundance of useful information that I would have otherwised overlooked.
Very good and well written.
