I am disappointed with the book length and expected more content
on March 19, 2012
I read a lot and have read a few books lately about buying and selling antiques and books, several which I'd give 4 and 5 stars. Two books I've felt shortchanged with however, and this is one of them. It is quite a short book and the price is $9.99 as I write this. I should have listened to the other reviewer who gave 2 stars. I read the sample I downloaded and wanted more...problem is, I didn't get much more than the sample offered. The reader is basically told to clean all the items you bring to your booth and get an antique space in a good location. Make the booth display attractive so shoppers want to buy. There is a bit about inventory taking and bookkeeping, which may be helpful to some but not me - I was hoping for much more about decorating and displaying in your booth. I was hoping for some really helpful tips. The writer (or maybe there are two) has a nice writing style, but if you're going to charge $9.99 for this book, it shouldn't be something that can be read in an hour. The writing style is great and the author appears knowledgeable. I liked the few pictures that accompanied the book also, but in the end I felt shortchanged. The author(s) promised to provide tips learned over the years that you can avoid if you read the book, but making your booth look nice is just common sense? I think I've learned my lesson with Ebooks - if they have only a couple of reviews, those good reviews may be written by friends. Had the book been $1.99 or $2.99 I would give a much higher rating. I almost didn't write a review but had even one more person written one like this, I wouldn't have purchased. I have sold on Ebay a decade and Amazon a few years and have 100% positive feedback on both as I write this - I don't like leaving a negative review but they are so helpful to me as a potential buyer. This book could have been fantastic. UPDATE 2013. This book trendsetter - possibly expanded!
