I became a champion sales professional!,
By
This review is from: Selling For Dummies (Paperback)
I come from a technical background and had no idea what selling is all about. Selling For Dummies taught me everything I need to know about selling, from what to say, how to say it, time management, motivation and everything under the sun that is related to selling! I keep a copy on my desk and use it to write thank-you notes as Mr. Hopkins demonstrates. As I write this, I have been in the business of selling for little over a year. I have been a steady quota achiever and even won awards for selling above quota. I have read 3-4 other sales book and a heard several sales audio CD's but many other books or audio books assume that you know something about selling. Read this book first before you read any other sales book.

Excellent for Start up Companies,

As a small business owner, I found this book extremely helpful. It really assisted me in formulating both a big and small picture of how I want my business to grow. And, much of the advice is useful not only with regard to selling, but for everyday life. It provides tips on how to persuade without being pushy and uses concrete examples to illustrate its points. It also inspired me to become a great salesperson and business woman. It is written in a clear, concise way that is easy to follow and understand. I felt that sometimes it was overly simplistic and optimistic, but overall, it is well worth the purchase.

Great Introductory Book into the World of Sales,
By Jeff Reece (Jefferson City, MO USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Selling for Dummies (Paperback)
This book is a great book for someone who is interested in Sales but hasn't really taken the time yet to learn the information associated with it. It does a great job of explaining the different sales techniques in a down to earth manner. At times the chapters can be a bit redundant, but the information that is repeated is important information and helps the reader memorize the different ways to sell products or services. I went through the book with a highlighter and this has helped me gain a good introductory understanding of the Sales world.

Very good read for novices,

Having never read a Dummies book before simply due to the title, I laughed when I received it as a gift. I was surprised that it is actually a decent book. The principles are geared more toward the fading aggressive approach, but it did have a bunch of solid techniques and provides a good base for those just getting into sales. I gave it to one of my new sales employees and it helped provide a more well rounded approach resulting in increased productivity.

I bought this book because I landed a new job selling advertising spots in a magazine. Sales is brand new to me and I needed help, it is a great tool and I've applied a lot of it to my new job. Worth every cent.

I am a fan of Tom Hopkins. I attended his book camp on selling over twenty years ago. This book is true to Mr. Hopkins excellent ability to communicate a subject matter that has fallen by the waistside. I ordered the book as a refresher and was not disappointed. If you are new to sales, this is the book for you. I also recommend his Mac Daddy book, "The Art of Selling."

Really good back to basics sales material here, often as sales people we forget the fundamentals. This book is well suited to a sales person just starting out or an experienced salesperson wanting to improve their sales practice by getting the basics right.

This book kicks open the door on selling. I didn't know one thing about the art of selling now i can say I'm not half bad at it. This book is a must read if selling is new to you. Oh and if you think you know everything you better read this book too.

Great Book On Selling Skills!,
By
This review is from: Selling For Dummies (Paperback)
This book is very useful for those in the selling business. Since I am in the banking field and am required to sell all the time, I found this book quite useful.
It covers everything from finding the customer till maintaining a happy relationship with him. It did not miss on anything. It supplies you with all sort of relevant examples and real case studies and experiences that are so useful. Of course since its part of the dummies series, the language was so simple and straightforward. The only thing I didn't like about it was the size of the book. I mean reading a self improvement book that contains 362 pages is not an easy task at all. You need to be patient. You also need to allow yourself to skip many parts and paragraphs that don't grab your attention, otherwise the book might be eventually boring and you could lose the opportunity of learning so much about selling. This book is not the kind of book you read once then store in a box. You need to be going back and forth to it whenever you need to refer to its principles.

This book is exactly what I've been looking for! It clearly sketches out the steps for a successful sale. I knew there had to be a receipe out there that did that and finally I found it! Very well organized and easy to use! If you've never had a sales class before, then this is the book for you to walk you through it from start to finish. It clearly takes you all the way from cold calls to closing the deal, including telling you exactly what to say and do.
