Book Description

October 31, 2002
Being unemployed is the hardest job in the world. This book is an owner’s manual for being unemployed and looking for work! You are the business owner, the product, the promotional manager, the sales person and customer service all wrapped into one person. That’s not the hardest part. Nope, the hardest part is you are not trained to do this professionally, and you probably haven’t done this in well over a year or more. The other challenge is maintaining a positive, expectant attitude when everyone keeps reminding you of all the negative hype that is being delivered via TV, newspaper, etc.

Luckily, there are two sides to every coin. So here is the other side of this one. If you will from the beginning of your journey set your target job, study yourself, practice your interview/ selling skills and remain committed to attaining your target job, you will have a formula that can serve you in more ways than you’ll be able to count. Some skills that you will learn (or review) in Selling You are also great life skills. For example:

Making better decisions, faster
You’ll find yourself a better problem solver.
More drive and confidence.
Proper use of your time. A powerful friend or foe depending on how you use it.

Selling You is primarily about selling you in an interview. The skill of selling and learning a simple way to sell your ideas will always be a formula you can count on, long after you have your job, for communicating well and convincing others of your point of view.

This review is from: Selling You: How to Get Your Next Job in 10 Interviews or Less, Guaranteed! (Paperback)
"Selling You" gives you a fresh approach and excellent basic skills (such as resume and cover letter examples) and new ways to look at the job search. You can tweak these ideas to fit your personality.

One of the new concepts is The Four Square Planner. It shows you how to give excellent answers in an interview. You can demonstrate how your skills and experience might fit many types of jobs. This is one of the most important parts of the book. You'll be amazed at what you can come up with.

John helps you figure out the barriers that keep you from being motivated to finding a job.

All in all the entire book is an easy read with a set of tools that you can use to make your job hunt less stressful. Everything follows a logical pattern and is very helpful.
