5.0 out of 5 stars Mooney's poetic insights
Selves in Discord and Resolve is without doubt one of the very best books on Kierkegaard in the last decade, along with books by Westphal, Rudd, Evans, Gouwens, and the Cambridge Companion volume. 3.0 out of 5 stars very short book for the price - I am serious
not a bad book,VERY concise, more into (post)analytic ethics than continental writers.. just don't think its a five star work, too expensive for the limited size, otherwise eloquently written and may go into a list of helpful readings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mooney's poetic insights, February 21, 2000
This review is from: Selves in Discord and Resolve: Kierkegaard's Moral-Religious Psychology From Either/Or to Sickness Unto Death (Paperback)
Selves in Discord and Resolve is without doubt one of the very best books on Kierkegaard in the last decade, along with books by Westphal, Rudd, Evans, Gouwens, and the Cambridge Companion volume. Mooney's style is so smooth and easy to follow that, even though the book's topics are often challenging, an advanced undergraduate would get lots out of this book in a seminar. Mooney links themes in Kierkegaard's pseudonymous works with ideas from recent work in analytic moral psychology, and also with ideas from several postmodern authors. He clarifies Kierkegaard's understanding of the development of the self like no other critic, and in the process sheds novel light on several of SK's most important texts. This is essential reading for all Kierkegaard scholars. At the 1999 American Philosophical Association conference in Boston, Alasdair MacIntyre said that Mooney's work was the by far the best he knew of those that discussed and responded to his own criticisms of Kierkegaard --high praise indeed! I recommend this book wholeheartedly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Selves in Discord, January 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've never been disappointed with books received from Amazon - by price or condition.

Will freely recommend purchasing any book from the Amazon web site. And talk about a selection of books to choose from by Title and prices. There isn't much I needed as to further information concerning the books purchased - there was enough detail for me to know the condition of the book, who was selling the book, and the price comparisons I needed to make a reasonable choice.
