5.0 out of 5 stars Bebel Rawks!
This CD is a great addition to Tanto Tempo, Bebel's debut release. The three high energy remixes on "Sem Contencao" frame Bebel's vocal style in a slightly different way than on "Tanto Tempo," and it makes for marvelous listening!! Even before NPR's interview with Bebel, I had played her new CD on my Jazz show, and the phones lit up....Bebel's great,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Big Beat...
....Dance Floor if you like that sort of thing. A bit too in-your-face mixes for my taste.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mixes fit for royalty!, July 29, 2001
This review is from: Sem Contencao (Audio CD)
Bebel Gilberto, daughter of João Gilberto (Brazil's best-loved musical son and one of the creators of the bossanova style of jazz), is creating a worldwide stir of her own as she brings bossa style and substance into the 21st century. If you haven't heard her the album Tanto Tempo, from which the original version of "Sem Contenção" is taken, go do so and then come back. You'll like it.

Back now? Nice classy mixes befitting a member of the bossanova royalty. The One Rascal Remix takes the original and grafts it onto the New York House DNA strand. The Ugo & Sanz Remix takes a more Ibiza-styled approach to the track, but both are pure dance floor. The acapella track is beautiful but useful only for club mixing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bebel Gilberto - Sem Contenção (Remixes), February 24, 2011
This review is from: Sem Contencao (Audio CD)
Sem Contencao, the first single off Bebel Gilberto's Tanto Tempo, gets housed up by One Rascal and Ugo & Sanz. Both versions retain the vocals and add a dance-friendly beat, but the One Rascal remix is slightly more upbeat, with Ugo & Sanz keeping the tempo at a nice mid-level. While neither of them are outstanding examples of the remix art, both succeed in what they set out to do: bring Bebel into onto the floor and get her moving.
