5.0 out of 5 stars A good PT session
I did a short stint at Naval Officer Candidate School and this sure brought back memories. OCS is taught by Marine Corps drill instructors and I must say, the are just like they are on the DVD. 3.0 out of 5 stars Semper fit
The exercises are great, but 30 minutes of it involve a circuit course and running outdoors. One cannot do those exercises indoors unless they had a huge back yard with a built in circuit course.

The circuit course is great and you DO NOT need one of your own. You can substitute dips for pushups and others, but it might be a good idea to get some dumbells. A good product... very motivational.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kicked my soft civilian butt, March 13, 2006
This review is from: Semper Fit: The Marine Corps Workout (DVD)
Really great workout. Left me sweating. And you don't need a cicuit course for this, I did it all in my tiny NYC living room. You just need some weights, the edge of a chair or sofa will work for dips, and a step or stairs. Really motivating to workout with our enlisted boys that sacrifice alot of personal comforts for us, as opposed to some fancy pants personal trainer to the stars. Can't wait til it's warm enough to show off my new guns! haha

Moti-, Moti-, Moti-, Motivated, Dedi-, Dedi-, Dedi-, Dedicated.
An outstanding PT session, not so much for those of us who are already Marines, but for those who want to feel the burn of a d*mn fine PT session, and to get an all around great workout. Filmed right as DI's, albeit far more nicely than your normal USMCRD DI, are barking commands and, yes, even pointers to grunts. Helpful hints scroll across the screen in glorious Gold and Red. Oooh-Raaah again. This is the Corps through and through.

The stretching session is fantastic, though as some have pointed out, it's shortened down a bit. The general calesth. portion is excellent as well and I guarantee if you haven't got any disicipline in that body of yours yet, this will put it there and you'll feel the burn. Just try the dive-bomber push ups for starters, especially after you've already done some of these other exercises. Like I said, if you're just starting and looking for some excellent, motivational, good-old-fashioned PT, you've found it. It doesn't get any better, and fads regiments/routines will time and time again be blown out of the water by this session here.

A fantastic product, hands down. I actually purchased mine for a family member, ran through it with them, and they are now hooked, almost to the point of enlisting!

Stay motivated people. Get this too! You won't regret it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Need a bit of kit..., September 20, 2005

Great DVD, just stretch along with the marines, do the workouts as they do them, but you really need a dvd player in the same location as your gym equipment. You don't need much the only thing thats hard to find is a good beam/bar for doing heaves/pull-ups. The dvd is explained well, suits all levels of fitness, stretches, warms up and worksout.

Just like I remember it, many years ago. The video is a great workout and the best point to be illustrated is that you don't need a flashy, expensive or bright colored ad-ridden gym to get into great shape. The Marine Corps has zero time to waste and zero tolerance for nonsense. They get maximum results with minimal expense; "more bang for the buck," as they say. Indoors or outdoors, all you need is a good pair of exercise shoes, maybe some handweights, a lot of heart and a never quit attitude. Spandex thong wearers need not apply. Semper Fidelis!

I've been on the program for 2 weeks and have noticed a change in energy and dropped several pounds. It's an intense workout, that leads you through the daily rountine of the Marine Bootcamp PT, with some added circuit training( which can be modified to fit your surroundings). My children love working out to the video as well and having the drill instructor yell out the commands, it turned out to be a good investment. You will need upper body strength as they do alot of pushups and some weights for the circuit training.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Work Out: Too Much Money, November 25, 2008
This review is from: Semper Fit: The Marine Corps Workout (DVD)
I was in the Marine Corps and really enjoyed the work out, but $25.00 is was too much money for it. This is a $10.00 DVD. If it had more than one session on it, I may say different, but you will get bored doing the same workout every time. I also love the fact that Amazon.com made it $24.95 instead of $25.00 so it wouldn't qualify for free shipping.

However a previous reviewer was correct in that you don't have to have a circuit course at your house. I was able to do most everything with just a set of dumbbells.

You will definitely get a good work out doing this. It really works the cardio and, if you do everything right, you'll get in shape really fast. Great DVD. I definitely recommend it.

Build your body the Marine Corps Way!

I was into a health kick a few years back. Hiking, sailing, martial arts, and then I'd cap it off with this video. Great stuff.

Truth be told the workout regime is pretty basic, but still very tough, and works the body in good healthy appropriate ways to keep you tone and well defined. It'll strengthen your stamina for muscles that you rarely use, and in this way build your endurance.

The bonus is the senior DI telling his boys to "Make some noise!" at the end. Great stuff.
