Optional helmet clamp kit for earbuds

Amazon.com

This accessory works with the Sena SMH10 (sold separately) to create a complete wireless communication solution

The Sena SMH-A0303 is a clamp kit designed for use with the Sena SMH10 Bluetooth wireless communication system (sold separately). This includes everything you need to setup the Sena SMH10 for use with 3.5mm earbuds. The clamp has a female 3.5mm plug instead of the Sena helmet speakers. The kit includes a replacement clamp with both mounts and 3m adhesive.

Combine with the Sena SMH10 for a Complete Solution

The SMH10 is a Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR Class 1 Stereo Headset with long-range Bluetooth Intercom designed specifically for motorcycles (sold separately). With the SMH10, you can call hands-free on your Bluetooth mobile phone, listen to stereo music or voice instructions of GPS navigations by Bluetooth wirelessly, and have intercom conversations in full duplex with a passenger or other motorcycle riders.

Thanks to the latest Bluetooth v2.1 and the advanced digital processing technology, the SMH10 offers the best sound quality for both incoming and outgoing sound in its class. Also, the easy-to-access and intuitive button operations make the SMH10 a perfect companion for motorcycles.

Bluetooth v2.1 Wireless

SHM10 can wirelessly connect to other Bluetooth devices supporting HSP/HFP (Headset Profile/Hands Free Profile) and A2DP (Advance Audio Distribution Profile). HSP/HFP is standard in all phones with Bluetooth features. Almost all Bluetooth MP3 players, smartphone, and audio dongles support A2DP to send stereo audio to Bluetooth headsets like like the Sena SMH10. Enjoy Bluetooth music playback control by AVRCP: play, pause, track forward and track back.

Other Bluetooth features include Multi-Pair to allow intercom functionality for 4 persons, and compatibility with select motorcycle GPS systems.

Individual Adjustable Volume Profiles

You can easily decrease/increase the volume of the voice, music and intercom using Jog Dial. The SMH10 can save volume levels of previously connected profiles. This means that phone volume (HSP/HFP), music volume (A2DP), and intercom volumes will be saved separately and return to its own saved volume level whenever associated profile is reconnected.

Profile volume adjustment is only affected during the use of its specific profile. However, when changing volume during standby mode, then volume change applies to all profiles. Alert tones like low battery warning and connection tones can only be adjusted in standby mode.

Easy Installation for Most Helmets

The SMH10 will fit onto various types of helmets. The standard clamp, included in default packaging, will fit onto most helmets. For installations which may require extra wire length, ear buds instead of speakers, and wire microphone instead of boom microphone, Sena offers different types of clamps as an additional accessory (sold separately) to allow various installations and user preferences.

It works well on open face and half helmets.

The mic works great, at 70-80 mph, the listener on the phone said you can hear some wind noise, but around 45-55, the sound is great.
motoxxx
Cheap way to use the Senas on more than one helmet without having to moving the mounting system from helmet to helmet.

Update! November 1st, 2013:

The unit I purchased only 4 months ago is already broken at the headphone jack. I tried to "Return Item on Amazon and they say I cannot do it.

Update! July 23rd, 2013:

Once again, the connection is starting to break. The thing that really annoys me is that it started exactly TWO days after my latest return date.

Using this with my Sony ear buds is amazing. I have the style that go deep into your ear, so no wind or other noise gets inside my ear canal. It is better than having ear plugs. I do think that if you have basic ear buds, it won't be that great. The regular speakers that come with original SENA SMH10 are sufficient. If you want great sound, get this along with inside the ear headphones.

UPDATE! June 2012:

The headphone jack on the original model broke off and I had to order the new one. The model PICTURED on here is the old one, which breaks. The one they ship you is actually an improved model which does not break off.

My wife and I use several helmets during the course of a riding season ranging from 1/2 helmets during warm weather to modular varieties in the winter (yes, we do ride year round in Erie PA.) I coupled the 3.5mm clamp with Fuze ear-buds molded into my ears with Radian self hardening earplug putty. The combination has worked great. It completely cuts out wind noise with my half helmet while allowing uncompromised use of the Sena units for blue-tooth intercom, cell phone and in the case of my wife her Ipod.

Overall I really like the Sena units. They have served me well for the past 1.5 years. The earbud clamps are not good though. The first set lasted my girlfriend and I about a year. Now in the past 6 moths we have had 4 of them fail (one of them being the "new and improved" design). Sena has replaced them for us under warranty, but it still costs me money to send them in and downtime when they are gone. I bought this one as a spare since we were going on a trip and one was giving me a problem. On the trip, it failed, so I broke out the spare and it has lasted less than a month before the left speaker started going in and out. Sena needs a new design!

The Sena SMH10 bluetooth headset comes with speakers you attach inside the helmet. Unfortunately at highway speeds it's difficult to hear anything. This Helmet clamp kit allows me to use my noise cancelling foam earbuds, and now I can hear perfectly at any speed.

I ride a six cylinder Honda Valkyrie cruiser. I pair up with an iPhone 4s which works so amazingly well. I use the earbud solution in the summer with my half helmet. Installation took all of 5 minutes (Sena includes the tool in the kit and two different mounts, mechanical and adhesive). I use Sony noise canceling earbuds ($99) that I've had a few years. They have always served me well in airplanes. They work so well that I can listen to music at lower sound levels. And what a great price! I applaud Sena for providing such great accessories at such a great price!
I also noticed that Sena has improved the solidity of the microphone boom so that it stays in place better. Can't say that it was ever what I'd considered a real issue on my previous set but I appreciate the improvement.
Great product, great value.

After using my Sena SMH10 for a little over a year, but hating the highway and wind noise on long trips, I decided to pick this up. Being able to use earbuds, which really help get rid of the wind and highway noise, makes it a lot easier to hear my music, phone calls, and the terrible wind and helmet sounds (which can really get unpleasant on long rides.)

My original helmet clamp failed when the wire to the headphone jack frayed. This new model has better molding around that sensitive area where the headphone jack meets the clamp, and I also reinforced it with a small cable tie locked under the clamp.

I wish Sena made one that had both the speakers, and the ability to use earbuds. That would be the perfect setup. They could just make it so when you plug in your earbuds, it would just shut off the speakers in the helmet. That way if you want to just go for a quick ride, you can leave the earbuds behind, and just use the internal speakers. Not sure how the life of these will be, but so far so good. I really love using the earbud setup. I purchased a set of Shure SE215-K earbuds, and they work fantastic, almost too good. They do a great job of keeping out windnoise. If you read the reviews of the Shure earbuds, some will tell you they have trouble putting them in their ears, but I can't imagine this as a problem. I had no issue whatsoever. I really like how they don't protrude outside the ear, and putting the helmet on and off is a breeze with these. The Sena Clamp Kit for Earbuds works as it should. The two together are great!
