Product Description

The Sena SR10 Bluetooth Two-Way Radio Adapter allows you to talk wirelessly with two-way radio devices via Bluetooth 2.1+EDR. It also provides a hands-free gateway for mobile phones and is compatible with standard stereo or mono Bluetooth headsets. The SR10 will clip onto your belt or mount onto handlebars with a wired PTT button extension for handlebar grip mounting. With the optional 12V bike-powered kit, you can install it to turn on and off with the motorcycle ignition. It is also usable while charging. It also enables you to hook up non-Bluetooth devices such as radar detectors and GPS navigation via two AUX ports. The SR10 allows you to connect with up to two audio sources at the same time and works for a variety of applications, such as motorcycle group riding, outdoor sports and activities, and security. SR10 only supports HFP (Hands-Free Profile) Bluetooth connection with a Bluetooth headset. HFP is a typical and standard Bluetooth headset connection which can only transmit mono audio. If a stereo audio device like a music player is connected to the SR10, audio quality will be diminished to mono audio. Thus, connecting a stereo audio device to the SR10 is not recommended.

I purchased this to go along with a Sena SMH10 Blue tooth wireless helmet intercom/communcation device. I have my phone paired primary and this SR10-01 paired secondary. I have my GPS and my radar detector connected to it. Now I can use my phone and listen to music from my iPhone in my helmet, and the GPS will cut in with directions, and the radar will cut in with alerts. Totally wireless between bike and rider and it has a 12 hour charge and can also be charged on the go.

I know one star might seem harsh for something like this, but hear me out... One of the key features of this device is that when plugged in to the bike's 12v accessory power on an ignition-activated circuit, it automatically turns itself on and off when power is provided to it. This seems like a great idea, and would be an excellent feature to make use of for installing it permanently on the bike, or in a tank bag, top case, or other location where it's hard to reach to turn on and off. This makes the following design flaw glaringly obvious:

IF THE SR10 IS PLUGGED IN TO THE BIKE, IT BECOMES INHERENTLY INCOMPATIBLE WITH ANYTHING ELSE PLUGGED IN TO THE SAME BIKE.

This is due to something called a ground loop. Basically, the SR10 is super sensitive to ground loops, and if you have one, no sound will come through it at all except for some crackling feedback. In their infinite wisdom, SENA neglected to include a ground-loop isolator in the unit, so the end result is that between the SR10, and any and all accessories plugged in to it, if more than one of them is powered by the bike's electrical system, the whole thing falls apart and won't work. This means: no radar detectors, no USB or 12v accessory powered GPS, Radio, or audio devices, no using the included self-switching power adapter, and most of all no long trips where you can't conceivably power everything off of its own internal batteries the whole time.

For a $200 device that has ONE JOB, this is unacceptable.

One star, and returned the unit to the local retailer from which I bought it. Hopefully this review prevents someone else from making the same mistake.

This product far exceeded my expectations. I rigged a CB radio to my Harley and did not like wires connecting to helmet. This product allows bluetooth connection to my helmet for not only CB but also my GPS and my cell phone. All connected at same time and WITHOUT any wires connecting to helmet. This product although not inexpensive, is the best you could hope for unless you have a large touring bike with everything built in. Would highly recommend.

it works well. I hook up my CB and it works fine with my Nolan helmet. I also got the cable with the bare wires on one end and wire it into the communication system on my Royal star Venture. No more CBLES

I was sick of having cables running from my hemet bluetooth to my radio. Now I don't have to unhook every time I get off my bike. This really pairs well with all my other blue tooth devices.

It is a little large but other wise I love it

I wanted to interface this adapter to my ham radio via my Sena Bluetooth headset. I worked just as advertised. Great unit.

Have not had any issues, connects automatically once taught. Be careful that the big button doesn't contact anything if you are using the remote PTT button on your handlebar.

I use this for a radar detector only along with an iPhone on a separate channel to an SMH-10R. The SR10 takes priority over everything but phone calls. The Sena tech explained it & the setup makes sense. So, when on the phone, I slow enough to not need the detector, which is a good idea anyway.
