Book Description

June 1995
Bill Baldwin, an old college friend of Wess, wins the U.S. Senate primary election in Colorado. Moments after the triumph, amid the confetti-strewn bedlam of the victory gala, Baldwin's press secretary shockingly puts a gun to his head and pulls the trigger...but not before issuing an ominous warning.

4.0 out of 5 stars Author Shows his expertise in this novel, November 15, 1998
This review is from: The Senator's Agenda (Dead Air Series, Book 3) (Hardcover)
Despite the obvious controversy over Bob Larson's life style and writing, it is my personal belief that he is a powerful and impacting writer for my Jesus. I found this novel to be enlightening and very well written. Although I liked the first two in this series better, I found this novel to be excellent.

1.0 out of 5 stars Written to "explain away" media reports of Larson's own sins, January 20, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Senator's Agenda (Dead Air Series, Book 3) (Hardcover)
Millionaire mail-order media minister Bob Larson was exposed by the Christian press (and NBC); The Senator's Agenda is, in large part (esp. pp. 52-55) Larson's attempt to explain away documented reports (see http://www.bitsmart.com/boblarson) of his adultery, ghostwritten books, fraudulent fundraising practices, chronic dishonesty, and wildly extravagant lifestyle as some kind of plot to smear him. Change the name "Taylor" for "Larson," and the fictional smear campaign by Baldwin's staff matches his experience precisely: The "tabloid" is Denver's Westword, the "small-time national magazines" are World and Cornerstone, and the "television reporter" is Mike Wendland of Detroit's WDIV. The only difference is that the charges against Larson are supported by court documents and other equally compelling evidence.
The parallels are so surreal that the only remaining questions are whether Bob Larson actually molested a twelve-year-old boy, and if so, whether it will ever come out in the press.

1.0 out of 5 stars Larson's first attempt at writing a novel falls on its face, January 19, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Senator's Agenda (Dead Air Series, Book 3) (Hardcover)
The Senator's Agenda appears to be Christian radio shock jock Bob Larson's first bona fide attempt at writing a novel. As reported in Cornerstone and World magazines, "Larson's" first two attempts at writing a novel were largely the product of more talented Ministry staffers ... and the precipitous decline in the quality of "his" prose will be especially noticeable to those who read Dead Air.
Larson indicated in the dedication that he wrote TSA in roughly thirty weeks -- while keeping his lucrative ($300-500K/year) day job as a talk show host. And to be perfectly frank, it shows; there is a reason why Thomas Nelson didn't issue this anemic effort in paperback.
