This is an excellent CD. The music is beautiful, and the performances are all outstanding. The traditional spirituals are done with sensitivity and emotion. The Leslie Adams songs are some of the most beautiful and moving one can recall of contemporary works. Truly rare modern masterpieces. It is indeed a pleasure to own this wonderful CD.

This is one of the best recordings in my library of over 400 plus vocal recordings. The music is simply beautiful. Each of the artist represented are world class musicians who truly allow the text and music to become one. They understand the purpose of the "African American Art Song" genre. This is a definite must have for your personal or academic library!
