With an operating pressure of 70 to 120 PSIG, the 42XP is built to perform. It drives both bright and galvanized 15-gauge finish nails from 1-1/4 to 2-1/2 inches into even the hardest woods, including white oak, making it ideal for interior and exterior trim work, crown molding, base molding, door and window casings, cabinets, chair rails, and hard and soft wood flooring. Boasting magnesium housing, the 42XP is specially made to withstand wear and tear and see even the toughest jobs through to completion.
Experience Precise, Efficient Results
The 42XP features a dial-in depth gauge on the side for convenience, and a variable thumbwheel adjustable depth-of-drive that guarantees precise drives from first drive to last, while a 104-nail capacity keeps you working with fewer interruptions. To help ensure you maintain progress, it also includes an EZ-Clear latch to prevent jams from getting in the way of your work. For additional efficiency, the 42XP also resists misfires and double nailing.
Work in Safety and Comfort
Even though the 42XP is built tough, it has a lightweight construction that makes it easy to handle. The nailer also features a balanced, ergonomic design with a premium custom grip and trigger, helping ensure your comfort and safety while you work.
Protect Your Work Surface
Able to deliver superior results without harming delicate work surfaces or materials, the 42XP boasts Senco's exclusive "NeverLube," which is designed to prevent the mess and damage caused by oil spills. There's also a no-mar pad to protect wood while simultaneously guarding against slipping.
The 42XP measures 4 x 11.5 x 13 inches (WxHxD) and weighs just four pounds. It is backed by a five-year warranty.

Senco sets the standard by which all other nailers are rated. I have the new FP41XP and I love it. My old SFN40 is still going strong after about 10 years of heavy use. I had a Bostich (Stanley ) finish nailer before but I found it underpowered compared to the Senco. The nails used for the Bostich are inferior too. The so called galvinized 16Ga Bostich nails rusted easy. Senco nails are the best quality. The galvinized nails look like stainless and will not rust. The tip is easy to un jam if you hit something hard and bend a nail. The nailer has enough power to easily set a nail into 5/4 white oak. The gutless Bostich could not set a nail into 5/4 white oak.
One thing to note is the nails are specific to this gun, so make sure you can get nails at a price that's affordable to you. Another is if you set a nail too deeply you'll notice an elongated depression where the drive pin kissed the wood. I suppose another thing to keep an eye on is your supply of nails, as you go through a clip rather quickly due to the ease of use of this gun.
Summary: The nailer costs a bit more than others and is well worth it.
My only complaint and tiny at that.. is that this gun fires 34 degree nails only...
It should be mentioned in the listing by Amazon and put on the main page at Senco's site and not on a technical page...
Other then that... I just find excuses to use it... I've shot 1-1/2 and 2" nails both bright and galvanized into pine, oak, yellow cedar, birdseye and sugar maple, and cherry...
Nose guard stays on and i'm 2000+ nails into the original piece.

I have been a finish carpenter for many years and have always used senco nailers. They have always been great products but the last few models seem to be declining in quality. Read morePublished 3 days ago by Tim S
So far this has been a great tool. It'll shoot a 2" nail through two pieces of 3/4 Hardi and leave it below flush. Read morePublished 24 days ago by Framing specialist
I'd give it zero stars but can't. I bought this nailer a few years back and never used it. Not once. Went to use it recently for the first time and it did nothing but jam. Read morePublished 1 month ago by chin hair

Very good nail gun, could use attached belt hook.
It comes with a universal type hook, which I do not like much, it gets in the way.
Good weight for size of gun. Read more
