My business used these guns for over 2 years. Overall a good nailer but serious problems with every gun in the long run. The entire nose piece would break off. After this happened to three guns, two of these just after the warranty went out I changed brands. Sorry Senco but the price of the nose piece was comparable to buying a new gun.

Senco SCN40R or SCN40R?,

I purchased a Senco Coil Roofing nailer SCN40R for ceramic tile backer board and roofing. Because of its name in the construction field and the guys on jobsites always saying good things about Senco. After many hours of research of other coil nailers Senco became the choice. I purchased one at a local supplier along with a box of inexpensive coil nails (7200) and went to work. It was great, powerful, light, easy to load, nice depth of adjustment, and a spring lock pin for the door. Adjustable operating pressure is 70-120 psi, worked well for my needs. The next time out the trigger started leaking this is after approximately 800 nails now remember this is a no oil gun self lubricating graphite rings. I called my supplier which suggested returning it for exchange, I did. The next one went to work and after about 400 nails the foam handle pad started to bubble and depth of drive control became inconsistant at a constant 100 psi ending up driving a few nail heads by hand. I emailed Senco tech support about this and the reply suggested I "Pop the bubble with a pin and try adjusting the depth guide" Not what I call real tech support. I mentioned this to the supplier and again suggested just return it. I did, And... bought another one! I refuse to believe three in a row, I'll let you know.

A great nailer,

I bought the nailer initially to install cement backer board for tile. The first nailer I had was a Porter Cable and it jambed on me enough that I took it back after the first use. The Senco is a breeze to use. It has enough power to drive through cement boards with ease. Well I ended up using it to do some big roofing jobs and it worked like a charm. The nailer will go as fast as you can lay shingles. It doesn't use a lot of air either. I use it with a Dewalt 4 gallon compressor and it kicks the compressor on after about 20 nails. As with Senco products I suggest you use Senco nails for it. I tried several cheaper brands and I was not satisfied. Bottom line is if you want a good roofing nailer that you won't have to replace anytime soon then buy this one. If you want to skimp on price buy a cheaper brand. You will be sorry you did.

Great Roofing Nailer,

I'm a general contractor here in Pearblossom, CA. I love this gun. I orginally bought a Porter Cable coil nailer. I did about half a roof, it was horrible, jam after jam, had to use a hammer to send about half the nails home. Took it back to the store and got a Senco. What a difference, very seldom does it jam, the nail sets just right. And the nail set adjustement is great, ie: as the roof warms up during the day you can back it off a bit so it doesn't sink the head into the shingle. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

I used this nailer(new) recently and really enjoyed using it. No jams and was very easy to insert coil nails. I also have a Senco palm nailer and enjoyed using that too. I don't know enough to say how long it will last but it is built really good. The cover for coil nail is made of plastic but it looks strong though.

I rented one of these from a local hardware store for a roof I did and had not a single problem with it. I've used various other Senco nailers in the past and been very happy with each and every one of them. I've got another job now that requires a roofing nailer, and this is the one I'm buying. Highly recommended.

AS A RENTAL STORE WE RENT ALL SORTS OF SENCO PRODUCTS AND THE SENCO ROOFING NAILER IS THE MOST DURABLE NAILER WE HAVE FOUND ON THE MARKET AND TRUST ME WE HAVE TRIED EVERY BRAND THERE IS. YES, AFTER 3 TO 4 YEARS OF RENTING WE DO RUN INTO SOME PROBLEMS BUT IT IS VERY EASY IN MONTANA TO FIND SENCO PARTS VS. BOSTICH PARTS OR HITACHI. FOR THE AVERAGE COMMERCIAL PERSON OR OWNER YOU WON'T FIND A BETTER PRODUCT.
