Book Description

Before I even began to draw the skeletal outline of what eventually became this book, the lyrics of the Eagle's 1970's hit song "Lying Eyes" were rattling around from one corner of my mind to the other. Not because of the story line but because of the essence: that choices carry consequences. Unintended consequences. Summed up by the Eagles in one line from their song:

"I guess every form of refuge has its price"

Four decades after the song hit the top of the charts, one of the many web sites that feature the lyrics of the song, is still reporting over 5,000 hits a month. A tribute, surely, to the durability of Eagles' music. More specifically, I believe a tribute to the essence of the message. Reinforced repeatedly by ongoing tidal waves of events. Reminders that every form of refuge does, indeed, have its price. Choices do, in fact, have consequences. Some unintended.

That thread is the one I wanted to pick up and weave into the fabric of this book that I wrote for you, the reader. Thank you for the opportunity to entertain you with the novel that surrounds the message. While the story is fictional, the message is inescapably real.

An excellent book, written very well, giving us all some food for thought on where modern ethics are now and where they should be going
