First class ENGLISH mystery,

This review is from: The Sending (Hardcover)
Part of Household is steeped in the life of the country gent, a much maligned class who have provided England with its greatest patriots. The hero of this book is one such, Alfgif (sic) Hollaston, who is blessed with animistic powers. The story is fine but the description of the countryside and its denizens is what makes the book worth reading. Household's heroes are solitary thinkers and mystics, a welcome relief from the company-men who people so many heavyweight tomes these days. But don't just read the book, visit the landscape.
