Review
I sent your book to my 84-year-old grandmother in Massachusetts. She's never really been a big reader, but she RAVED about your book. She said how she liked the short stories and also said the stories "were so true." She's now trying to get my mother to read it so she'll know what she's in for as she get older!" --
Bonnie, Oregon, ReaderSenior Moments is an absolute delight. You want Patrick McManus meets The Sunshine Boys? You got it! Core's irreverent and hilarious look at aging will move and amuse you at the same time. You'll relate, whatever your age; if you're not a senior, with luck you will be. This one, I say, is a must-read. --

Sandy Moss, Daily Courier, Prescott, AZ, Jan.7, 2000We really enjoyed your Senior Moments. It has so much good sense in it and lots of laughs. I particularly liked how you described your "Buds." Best of all is page 127 - just added the whimsical touch to a thoroughly delightful book. --
HLA, Northern California, ReaderWhen the latest list of "Wouldn't you like to review these books?" hit my desk, my attention was drawn firstly to SENIOR MOMENTS: Growing Old is NOT for Sissies. I thought it would be the perfect book to review....The book is written by Don Core, and I fell in love with the cartoons by Chet Dickenson. Core charmed me immediately by referring to his wife as WifeBud and he has other buds, equally as charming-BoatBud, FishBud, BaseballBud, ComputerBud, and his wife's best friend JanBud. BoatBud is married to NiceLady. He refers to his children as FirstBorn and SecondBorn. His terminology for grandchildren is even better, their being grand-progeny, one of whom he describes as ". . . either a one-man demolition derby or aspiring to be a test car crash-dummy."
As the book continues, I am very touched with Core's love for his wife and friends and for his realization that the best way to see the world is through the eyes of a two-year old. AMEN. (See excerpts. Ed.)
This book takes no time at all to read. And it's nice to laugh with Core as he laughs at himself.... I challenge you to have fun with the book. Don't attempt to take anything too seriously. If you do, I think you're missing the point. -- Jo Ann Noel, News Editor, Bixby Bulletin, Dec. 9, 1999
From the Publisher
Senior Moments is a comfortable read - not just pages and pages of quasi-amusing text designed to keep book covers from slamming together. This book includes 17 illustrations, plus the cover drawing, by cartoonist, Chet Dickenson and although he is "just" a late baby boomer, he has captured the essence of the material in a way that compliments the text very nicely. The text is also sprinkled with one-liners, some old classics, some new, all amusing and the entire book is basically in good taste and fun.
