I purchased a very, very similar product 3 years ago and had no issues. I replaced it with this item because of the water and milldew stains on the legs. I weigh 280lbs and had no issues with the previous seat. However, this one lasted a total of 2 days before the legs started to bend outward. I think the weight limit is stated for this product to be around 230lbs. So, I can confirm that this is not a conservative number.
