Great monologues - extremely funny!, May 25, 2000
This review is from: Senior Square - 12 Monologues and a Rap: Thirteen Lives In Search of the Twelfth Grade (Paperback)
This play is a collection of the most hilarious monologues I have ever heard - all tied together by one thing: Senior Square! I have performed one of these monologues for an audition, and it gets laughs everytime! Buy this book - even if just to read it! It's worth it!

Great Monolog Material for Adolescents, July 7, 2005
This review is from: Senior Square - 12 Monologues and a Rap: Thirteen Lives In Search of the Twelfth Grade (Paperback)
Although the subtitle is "thirteen lives in search of the twelfth grade", I have found that middle school students connect with the monologs remarkably well. One of my students' favorites is Pat, who is running for senior president on a platform to ban high school, hair spray (destroys the ozone layer), and animal experimentation (in mascara products), to name a few. She fearlessly passes out flyers to the audience and expounds on women's rights as she delivers her campaign speech. Another favorite is Betty Jean, who has just run away from home and imagines listening to T.V.news flashes of her parents' frantic search for her and visualizes her picture splattered on milk cartons across the country. She calls home hoping to find her mom a nervous wreck, but finds Mom calmly fixing dinner. Still, to save her mom's sanity, she decides to return home in time for dinner and Mom's apple pie.
This script is well worth having in your library of scripts, if you work with teenage performers.
