Before buying these, I read the reviews for this product, the slightly more expensive CX300s and a few from other manufacturers. I noticed a wide variation in user experiences. I ended up selecting these as a compromise on price, and after trying them, I think I have a theory on why the opinions are so different. What you end up hearing depends very highly on how the things fit in your ears.

As I opened the package I was listening to a song through my cheap came-with-the-player earbuds, which were what you'd expect: okay but not great. With the song playing I swapped one earbud, swapped the plug, and then swapped the other ear. At first, I was hit by this wave of disappointment -- the sound from the CX200 seemed *worse* than the cheap earbuds they replaced. Thinking with dread about how I hate sending things back, I adjusted them in my ears. After a couple seconds, I noticed I was hearing parts of the music I hadn't heard before, both bass and treble. I swapped to the old ones and back again, and confirmed that fit is *everything*. Properly fit to my ears, I'm now happy to say they're the best sounding earphones of any kind that I've tried, short of professional full-size over-the-ear headphones. I've tried several different types and brands of earbuds, and for certain they beat all of those. I expect that a $50 or $100 pair of buds would likely sound better, but I think these do very well for the price.

Concerning passive noise isolation, these buds do a very good job. There is no active electronic noise cancellation here, and I was specifically avoiding that when purchasing them. The isolation is good enough that I think active cancellation is unnecessary, and in fact I find that the isolation may be excessive in some situations.

I am currently deployed to Afghanistan, and I gotta say that it can get a bit loud here. That being said I have had to resort to ear plugs when I am going to sleep. Now that I have these earphones, I can fall asleep to music! They are comfortable in my ears, have the most amazing sound, and work with my 1G iPhone, for music at least.

There is nothing else to be said- great price for a great pair of ear buds!

You aren't getting the CX200's because you want the ultimate in earbud technology. You are getting them because you want a cheapo pair of ear buds that don't sound too bad, which is exactly what you get with the CX200.

Pros:
Very comfortable
I completely forget they are in my ears. They are in fact, so light and have almost zero feeling in the ear, that it is nearly distracting, since I am not used to such localized music in my ear canal without the feeling of something stuffed into my ear holes.

Reinforced connections:
A lot of ear buds break after tugging the wire over and over to remove them, but these are a bit sturdier, with a shrink wrap tube where the wires meet the ear bud.

Decent sound:
You won't be using these in the sound booth or to mix music on your laptop, but in the garage or datacenter or on the bus, they are good enough. Highs and mids are good.

Cord length:
Not too long. Not too short. I really dislike super long head phone cables, since they cause more trouble than they are worth.

Cons:
Bass response:
Not the best. Not terrible, but not as good as the higher frequencies. Bass is good for electronic music, but acoustic bass drums don't seem to hit very hard.

No case: A little case would have been nice, but then again, I paid less then twenty bucks for these, and I have tons of cases already.

This is a comparison review between Sennheiser cx 200 and SkullCnady Ink'd in-ear headphones.

Skullcandy Ink'd headphones: have more bass, headphone cable is 1 inch longer, but you will hear 50% more noise when you walk while wearing these headphones when the cable rubs against your clothes.
Sennheiser: the bass is nice and clear - not as pounding, the cable from headphones when touching your clothes causes less noise, the high tones are about the same on both headphone sets, perhaps a bit more clear on the Sennheiser model, both headphones fit nicely in ear, the isolation is about the same,

In conclusion, if you really like loud bass and will be sitting still while listening to your music, then SkullCandy is a good option for you and a cheaper alternative, otherwise Sennheiser is the way to go.

Absolutely love these babies, I work out every day of the week, from running to lifting weights and for the price these earbuds are the best that I've had thus far. I would definitely recommend them to anyone and who wants affordable quality earbuds. The bass quality is "EXCELLENT" i'm not exaggerating what so ever they sound amazing, great clarity and very durable. They fit perfectly into my ears and the twist technology is a great addition although I didn't have to do any adjusting. I've never done a product review before but I felt that after reading the reviews prior to purchasing these earbuds that I needed to assist the next potential buyer in their purchase with my personal assessment of this item.
