Let me first say that I have used many over the ear headsets of Sennheiser such as the Sennheiser PXC 250 Active Noise Canceling Headphones so this was the first in ear type I tried. I compared it to the other three pair I had laying nearby in a head to head, or ear to ear, comparison.

The version number was a bit confusing since these are CX 215 and there was already the Sennheiser CX300-B In-Ear Stereo Headphone out on the market. It just confuses consumers to seemingly go backwards in numbers. Having expressed that, lets talk function and features.

The end that plugs in is a 90 degree type which makes it flusher against the device instead of sticking straight out like most earbuds. Reduces the tendancy to get caught. I go back and forth between cord length issues. This has the 3 foot cord as some have pointed out. I like it this way when wearing the device to, once again, reduce catching it, but need more when wanting to lie it on a desk or in a coat pocket. I think we need more retractible types for earbuds to get just the right length.

Other reviewers have praised the new "Innovative finger-tip contoured design delivers precision placement in the ear-canal" that the product description highlights. Honestly, you cannot grip the little edges to position the earbud. Once in your head it helps align them a bit better, but don't count on them when just picking them up.

The fit was extremely comfortable. Do not forget to test all three sizes they provide.

I used to be a big fan of the Sennheiser CX300-B In-Ear Stereo Headphone, but a couple of years ago the pair I had used for a while broke and I had to replace them. The new pair lasted only a couple of months before breaking again, and thinking it was a fluke I bought another pair, only to have them break very fast too. At that point I abandoned the brand and switched to Skullcandy.

I am glad to report that this set of earphones are in line with the quality I used to love from Sennheiser. The sound is great for the price, they feel extremely comfortable in the ear, and the cable construction is of much better quality than the last CX300 I bought. The noise isolation is very good too, so I am totally satisfied with the product and can recommend it with no reservations, even to those that like me were disappointed by this brand in the recent past.

A small step up from the CX 200 series, the Cx215 made minor improvements to all around sound including better mids and clear highs. The mids and highs were perfect for pop but the lack of lows and deep bass prohibits you from getting the most out of your classical music. The bass is rather hollow and I would definitely recommend purchasing the CX300s if you want a more complete sounding pair of earbuds.

One of my favorite features that these Sennheiser earphones offer is the 90 degree jack - it's really nice: more durable than the standard 'stand-up jack' and stays out of the way.

The finger-contoured design of ear-canal piece wasn't so impressive, for me. They are made for easy adjustment and optimal wearing comfort, but I didn't see them as either an advantage or disadvantage to regular earphones.

I would give, Noise Cancelation a solid A (not an A+).

Overall I experienced beautiful and clear sound quality with a nice range.

If you are looking for a good quality earphone without paying an outlandish price, I'd recommend this Sennheiser product.

I have been a long-time fan of Sennheiser ear-buds and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new CX215s. I was concerned when I received them given the slightly smaller build compared to my venerable CX300s.

My worries were unfounded. In addition to having a comparable cost to my CX300s, the clarity of mid- and high-range frequencies actually excelled the CX300s a little. In the bass department, they were the CX300s' equal; the bass is delivered cleanly, with no distortion that usually accompanies some of the cheaper offerings out there (yes, KOSS and JBL ... I'm looking at you).

In addition, the CX215 model features a very welcome ergonomic improvement. Putting these earbuds in is unbelievably comfortable...which unfortunately leads to a minor con. The CX300s are definitely better in the noise-isolation department. It's not noise-cancelling, mind you, but the snug fit is as good as any ear plug. The CX215s don't isolate sound quite as well because of the extremely comfortable fit. Take it with a grain of salt, but if you plan on air travel then don't rely on the CX215s to do the job. The CX300s are not completely perfect for air travel either, but if you're looking at spending the same money, the CX300s are a better buy. That said, for casual use, I still find the CX215's ability to isolate outside noise to be satisfactory enough for listening in an office environment, grocery store, etc., where a lot of white noise may otherwise hinder an enjoyable listening experience.

Otherwise, despite that minor gripe, these ear buds are definitely better than some other ear buds that cost anywhere from 20 - 30 dollars more. Highly recommended!
