Beware of counterfeit products sold for the cheap...,

I have read many reviews on Amazon from varied customers and find that quite a few rave about the product and (oddly enough) others complain of the cheap quality and terrible tinny sound. How could this be, I thought to myself? When I researched my Sennheiser earbuds, the "Sennheiser CX 500 Lightweight Portable Gaming Headphones (earbuds)" earlier this year, I contacted Sennheiser directly and was told to be very careful where I bought my Sennheiser products. He said that they're earbuds were "...one of the highest counterfeited products sold on the internet!" Further stating that "...if the item was selling for much cheaper than where it sold everywhere else, that it was most probably a counterfeit."
Finally, I was assured that buying DIRECTLY from Amazon.com was safe and secure but not necessarily from those 3rd party sellers selling thru Amazon's marketplace or thru e-Bay. So. that being said, let the buyer beware! I paid the fair market price for my 500's (around $75) directly from Amazon.com and was pleasantly surprised at both the sound and build quality of the Sennheiser earbuds. I particularly liked the in-line volume control on the cord just below the Y and they sound just great and are very comfortable to wear even all day! I suspect that many of those customers that were less than satisfied with their Sennheiser product(s) may have purchased them from a less than reputable seller who stocked the cheaper counterfeit junk coming out of Asia.

Very nice sound, the quality of the sound is beautiful and is very portable.... very good selection for using with a MP3 player... I use iPod and the sound and the in ear accommodation is very nice.

These ear buds are probably the best I have tried so far. I had a pair of Bose headphones that broke and these were the replacement. I don't think they are quite as good sounding as standard around-ear headphones, but the sound is very accurate and they are comfortable in the ear. Well done Sennheiser.

I really can't recommend these headphones enough. While they are a little on the pricey side, they are worth every penny.
When I received the Sennheisers, I did an audio comparison with my old ($30) headphones, and the difference was night and day. The Sennheisers brought out both subtle nuances and a deep bass experience that almost made it sound like I was listening to each song for the first time. An eye-opening experience. The addition of the various sizes of ear inserts was a welcome feature. I experimented with each size until I found one that I could wear for hours without any ear pain at all. While they don't block out all outside sound, they do a good enough job that I don't have to turn the volume up high to keep from hearing external noise. Again, very highly recommended. If you have a little extra cash and a pain-free, high-quality listening experience is what you're craving, buy these headphones now.

Got this for my 19 yr old college student son. He wanted it more for gaming, but is more than happy at the quaility of the music. He originally thight it was "too much" for what he was going to use it for. Needless to say, he's happy he has it now.

I was absolutely amazed at how bad these headphone were. I have a pair of HD280 pros and those are great. I have always thought Sennheisers were one of the best around.. but these in ear headphones were so bad I had to send them back.. They were very tinny, with distortions and scratchiness right out of the box.. I was stunned!! I ended up getting the Bose in ear headphones and they sound amazing.. I was very disappointed with the Senns
