These are the best earbuds I have ever purchased.
Kent R. Garrett
They certainly have more clarity, definition, tighter bass, crisp highs, etc., sound quality from low to high end.
Good sound and, very importantly, excellent durability.

update: 8/12/2011:

I thought I'd update my review on these after over two years of ownership.

First thing: THESE BABES ARE BUILT LIKE TANKS!!! I've had these two years and two months. I've taken them around the world to China, South Korea, Japan, and back to America. During my travels I've shoved them in tightly packed bags, pockets, suitcases, all without the carrying case. I've sat on them, thrown them around, etc, and they emerged WITHOUT ONE SCRATCH. Seriously I can sell these off as "like new" and no one would object.

While my personal preferences in sound have definitely changed/evolved over the past two years, having owned the ER4PT, SE535, MTPC, EX1000, CK10, UE700, GR07, and countless other start-ups like Meelectronics, Brainwavz... well, most of them came and went, but the IE7 has always been the pair that I was hesitant to sell off. Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not saying that the IE7 trumps all these above listed phones, but that it offers such a well rounded package with a unique sound that I'd rather keep it in my collection. Soundstage is enormous, separation/layering is amazing. Still crystal clear and detailed even after comparing to the ER4-PT (not as flat or accurate but definitely great clarity and detail).

One thing I started to get annoyed with was the awkward bass. It's still got a good thump, but unlike IEMs like MTPC and TF10, the bass on IE7 just don't bleed enough into the upper ranges. It extends downward nicely, but quickly gets cut off as it ascends into the upper-bass and lower-vocal ranges. I like bass on my ER4-PT, tight and controlled. But the bass on IE7 feels like it's got "oomph" but then doesn't really "oomph.

In short (if that is possible when you are writing about this product, but here is my take on the IE7.
Truly exceptional quality,in built, design, and foremost this monitors are made for music.(Not that you couldn't listen anything else of course, but music is what they are precisely made for).
I've had them for 3 months now,and simply have them anywhere I go with me.Im a composer, and really appreciate all music(the sound of music),all sound, anything that's not just "noise'(if you know what I mean).
The Sennheiser IE7,is absolutely beyond what I expected in ear bud headphones, amazing,is the least to say!
1.Highs and lows-check.(What a bass!...),wait till you hear it!!!
2.Mids-check(I read other people reviews about mids in general, and complaining, how they are "missing",or been "weak",how much mids really can u "find" in headphones<absolutely unnecessary,[my opinion].
5.Detail-check.(about that,if you get those, which I highly recommend ,You will hear things from ur songs, music, whatever You are listening to,that You have been missing before, simply by lack in performance for your headphone product. In other words you'll discover listening same music,in a whole different level.
Interesting experience, right when I bought them,I was blown-a-way buy it,and said, well let see if its just me,and had my colleague, and two buddy's trying them on,they were like "Whhoa, this things are LOUD man",had to turn the volume way down,so they can keep'em on .
Well, after all that been said,my dear readers,if you are shopping around,I think you are at the end of ur road,This is DDEE product!Im set as far as ear buds go.
Have a pair of Sony dynamics, not even close.
Enjoy it to the fullest.

The Sennheiser IE7s are a very good sounding quality pair of dynamic-driver in ear monitors. These were my first jump to pro league IEMs and in the end I am really pleased with them. They are the best sounding headphones I have ever used (from Skullcandys to Sennheiser CX 300 and CX 300 II, HD 201)

My first impression was that the IE7s sounded good but not phenominal. The truth is that Dynamic IEMs require some burn-in time to reach 100% sound quality. After a few hours I noticed that music was becoming clearer and the sound stage (illusion of space between instruments) began to widen. During these first few pre-burn in hours though, the IE7s compared closely to my CX 300s, (which I reviewed and totally recommend as the best sub $50 in ear headphones available).

After leaving my IE7s to play on shuffle over a couple nights with frequent tests, at ~35 hours I have heard large improvements since I first listened to them (I can now clearly hear the differences between these and my cheaper CX 300s). Here are the pros:

-Wide sound stage. Many components of music seems to be further away from my ears, making the music even more engaging and satisfying. (compare to the wide depth full-size headphones offer)
-Extremely defined, accurate and clear sounds makes the music seem less muffled and bring even more life to my music
-WELL balanced from the low end to mid to high end frequencies. These have the best neutral balance I have ever heard in an IEM and because of that they make listening much less fatiguing.
-Bass is important for many and in the IE7's case you won't be let down: they provide a balanced bass-rich experience without mudding out the rest of the music.
