5 star microphone - 3 star headphones,
This review is from: Sennheiser PC 36 USB Headset with Microphone (Personal Computers)
First, this is indeed a USB headset;someone uploaded a picture of a different model (with the two 3.5mm plugs). Also, it has a mute / volume control on the (8 foot!) cord. I'll upload a photo. Because I bought this headset for voice recognition, and recording video tutorials, the low quality headphones are not a problem. I would recommend looking for something else if you want high quality sound for music or FPS gaming. If your main interest is the microphone, I can definitely recommend it. I get very accurate voice recognition with Dragon Naturally; and clear sound quality when recording with Camtasia. Update: I don't have small ears, so while this headset is light, the padding is thin thus I'm not comfortable wearing it for long periods. I also tend to irritate myself with the cord wrapping itself up (it doesn't want to become straight).

Let me start by saying I am not a music major and some of the sound clarity a professional would want is probably not the same as my goal for a good headset. The brand had been recommended to me by a friend who has designed speakers. While he was suggesting a more expensive model (in the $400 range) he said that any Sennheiser headset should be better than most if not all of the competition. He was right. One of my major goals was to have a headset that would fit and stay on without putting so much pressure it felt like a vice grip. These fit that goal almost perfectly. I was also impressed with the range of sounds these put out. Many headsets can deliver good bass, but they seem to do so at the loss of some of the higher ranges of sound. These manage to supply a good sound level in a wide range. Violin concerti sound as good as the driving beat of rock songs. For the price, I don't believe I could have selected a better option. The one complaint I did have was that the speaker line to USB adapter didn't work well at all. The usb adapter was so loose it almost fell out of the USB plug. I didn't take any stars away from it because I just don't consider this to be worth the loss of any entire star (I would have rated it at 4.5 to 4.75 had the rating been available).

Great brand, decent price, comfortable to wear long hours, work on internet phone for 8 hours a day and it does a great job, sound quality good, people can hear me good, would have liked volume control on set, but not that big a deal, would buy this brand again

These are a great value for the money. I use them for Skyping and Instant message chats. Sound quality is excellent and the headset is quite comfortable even after long periods of time. Construction quality is good

The microphone and ear transducers are the best I have tested. I've tried multiple Plantronics and Logitech models. My application is remote operation of a radio transceiver using Skype for the audio path. I am using an Apple MacBook Pro notebook. The mic level and voice articulation is exemplary. I no longer have to use any mic equalization.

Sennheiser, my main man. We bought a different "gamer" headset that was way more expensive because we assumed that the higher price would be better quality. WRONG. So we returned that headset, and bought this cheaper one.We have had other, discontinued, Sennheiser headsets that were great. This NEW USB system is fantastic. We use it for SKYPE and Webinar communication. It's not perfect sound quality, but most of our distortions come from VOIP not the headset. Really good. Strangely, other reviewers we saw said that the cord was too short. If anything it's too LONG.

Great product for iMac based internet calls. Sound is very good(in and out), price is fair, good to wear for long lasting calls.I'd just love a little less plastic and more high quality finish e.g. like PX 100 - IIi (and I'd be willing to pay some bucks more). Did not found this option...

I have these on my head 4-5 hours a day and I have no problems wearing them this long. Sound quality is very good. I use them for Skype and video conferencing.

I just got off a conference call where I had a hard time hearing many of the callers. One caller sounded so clear he could have been a DJ in my ear. At the end of the call I asked that caller what was his secret to being so clear and he said it was his mic and sent me a link to this product. I don't have this headset so I have no idea how it is for listening but as someone on the other end of a VOIP conference call, all I can say is the person that was using this headset was by far the easiest of all the callers to hear and understand.

I purchased these headphones for making VOIP (magicJack) and Skype calls. I had originally purchased the Logitech USB Headset H530, but I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the microphone. The test recordings I made always came out garbled regardless of the audio settings. I tried going up a step in quality (or at least price) with this Sennheiser headset and I couldn't be happier. The test recordings I've made sound crystal clear and I've used them for several VOIP and Skype calls. In addition to casual calls where audio isn't that critical, I've also used these for recorded interviews over Skype. The interviewer making the recording gave the unsolicited comment that my audio quality sounded fantastic and he wished his interviewees were as good. The speaker quality seems decent to me, but I'm not using these for music or gaming, so you should look to other reviews for that feedback. The cord/cable is quite long (almost too long), but it's easy to tie up the excess. The only real negative is that the mute switch generates a substantial 'audio blip' when activated (either on or off). It's workable, but not ideal if you plan on making heavy use of mute (I'll be sticking with the software mute functions of skype and magicJack). |
