5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome product
This product is amazing! My mother, who is near deaf due to age, can hear like a kid again! The only downside is that it only lasts 4 hrs at a time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointed
Given the expense of this item I expected a top of the line listening device but I am sorly disappointed in its performance. The quality of sound is average, it certainly does not meet its' advertized hype. One week after receiving the unit the left ear piece went dead. This headset is overpriced and of poor quality. Buy something else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works with HDTV, April 25, 2007

We bought these for my wife's grandmother after replacing an old TV set with a small HDTV. She was using "TV Ears" with her old set but they didn't work with the new HDTV(to much interference). There is an optional part you can add to "TV Ears" to make them work but it costs $100. We preferred the simplicity of the Sennheiser 810. These are very simple to use--opening to put them on turns power on and they have a large volume dial. Perfect for those older folks who have trouble with small dials and buttons.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent head set., August 2, 2005
This review is from: Sennheiser Set 810 Ergonomic Personal Infrared TV Assistive Listening System (Electronics)
I first experienced a Sennheiser head set (RI 250) at a friend's house. Because of some hearing loss, my wife and I listen to sounds (TV, music) at different comfort levels. The 810 set produces a wonderful, dynamic sound. Now we can watch TV together without having to compromise. Don't know how we got along without it.

Meanwhile, I bought 2 additional sets of the Sennheiser ... for the bedroom and the RV. Still believe it's a great product, and it works!

5.0 out of 5 stars They really work!, May 6, 2007

I bought these for my Dad, but it was really to keep Mom sane. My Dad kept the t.v. at volume 10 all the time...very annoying! Now he uses these when she's around and keeps the t.v. volume low or even muted. The volume of the t.v. can be set at any level regardless of what level he listening to with the headphones. The headphones hang down from his ears and are very light...he says they aren't heavy or irritating at all. I recommend this product not only to folks who have a hearing impairment, but also to anyone who wants to be able to watch t.v. without disturbing the other people in the house.

4.0 out of 5 stars Listening System, January 9, 2007

We bought this for my 84 yr old mother who had to crank the TV up very loud to hear it, which disturbed those around her. She was even starting to have trouble hearing it when on loud. The headset helped her tremendously. She put it on and was instantly amazed at how good she could hear. She was so relieved because she was worried that she would no longer be able to enjoy her favorite programs. I have other friends whose elderly parents are also very happy with the product.

I bought this for my hard of hearing father who complained frequently that he couldn't make out what was being said on TV. He was delighted instantly with this listening system. It is so comfortable for him to wear that he forgets he has it on. He is enjoying movies and shows a lot more now that he knows what is going on.
I think it is unusual looking and wish someone could design one that doesn't look so strange when wearing.
But the unit did what it said it would. And I don't have to listen to the TV at top volume any longer!

I bought these headphones as a gift for my elderly father-in-law who resides in an assisted living facility. He is very hard of hearing and is not a fan of his hearing aids.

The Sennheiser 810 system was the perfect solution for his television viewing. The sound quality is good. The big volume knob is perfect for him. The switch that turns that turns the unit on as you spread the phones to put onto your head is ingenious! This keeps the rechargable battery useable for a much longer time. This feature is especially a plus for an older person with a memory problem who might forget to turn the unit off.

This product has absolutely changed the quality of his life. It has also brought peace to the neighbors who reside in the rooms within 50 yards of his TV speaker!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed with Amazon, June 7, 2009
This review is from: Sennheiser Set 810 Ergonomic Personal Infrared TV Assistive Listening System (Electronics)
I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with Amazon. I paid $217 for this product. Page 2 of the manual listed what should have been included. Clearly it says replacement earpads. Three times I have contacted you. First by phone and was told I would be credited with it, second email which was ignored and 3, emailed customer service . I received a reply saying it would be investigated and would be in touch with me and then to be totally ignored leaves me totally disillusioned with the way Amazon handles customers.

My 80 year old mom, deaf in one ear, swears by it. She no longer has to keep the tv cranked up to ear-splitting volume. The neighbors are grateful, too.
