5.0 out of 5 stars Great Vocal Mic!, October 14, 2007
This review is from: Sennheiser e935 Cardioid Dynamic Handheld Mic (Electronics)
Great sounding professional mic. It has a different character than my 58. It has a natural, warmth and very clear sound. It can still pick up even if you're 2 to 3 inches away. Perfect for my use since I sing on stand while playing guitar. I recommend this for pros.

I'm the lead singer in our rock band. We cover Wilco, Rolling Stones, Mellencamp, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, etc. I only list these bands because I find it helpful when others tell me their style. So I've been using Shure SM58 for years and was happy with it. I was in need of a new mic because my Shure was pretty banged up and I actually would get a small electrical shock on the lips when I got too close to it :) New mic time, right? So after some research and having read a lot of positive reviews for the Sennheiser e935, I decided to try it. The difference was huge. The straight sound from the Sennheiser is very warm with great clarity. There's almost no need for any effects (reverb, etc) on the vocals because it has such a great tone by itself. It makes my job much easier and if you're considering which mic to buy in this price range, look no further. Buy this microphone and you will sound like a pro on stage.

Bought this mic back in September. I tried it out in my music room, it sounded good there, but so did my EV 767a. But live in a gym in prison with 90 or so, I kept going to this mic over the EV Cobalt, EV 767a because it really cuts through the mix a bit better. Handling is great and build seems first class.

After read so many reviews about this Mic, I finally decided to treat myself a gift for the Holiday, I was so Impressed when I first heard my voice out from this Mic, Very Clear. that had to stop and looked at the Mic again and said it to myself ( Wonderful ), though I agree this Mic is not the top of the Sennheiser line, howver this Mic can really make you sound like a Pro, I highly recommend to anyone who's still skeptical, you definately can't go wrong with this one. thanks Sennheiser.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you want an outstanding microphone, buy this one!, August 11, 2008
This review is from: Sennheiser e935 Cardioid Dynamic Handheld Mic (Electronics)
This is the best microphone I have ever purchased. Not only does this microphone look cool, but it sounds amazing. I couldn't believe how satisfied I was after my first time singing into this microphone! If you are contemplating which microphone to buy, look no further - the e935 by Sennheiser is what you should buy!

Excellent sound quality. Quite directional. Wide range for deep, natural human voice recording. Used for advertisement voiceovers. (Used a cheap external Nady MPF-6 6-Inch Clamp On Microphone Pop Filter, and a Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 8 In / 6 Out FireWire Audio Interface with 2 Focusrite Mic Preamps on a Mac Pro.

What I like about the microphone is it's ability to transcend the accurate highs and midrange frequencies. I don't need to tweak them except in settings where large auditoriums are not tuned for those frequencies. The low end lacks but for voice, that was never my issue, it has great presence and the bottom end can be parametrically added when mixing. I tried it on other instruments like acoustic guitar or tube amp, and you would be better off with a condenser on acoustic or SM57 for the tube amp. But for Voice, and on small budget for great vocals, it is the workhorse.

Very clean and dense vocals even in extremely loud situations. The best vocal microphone among others in my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars e935 The way to go for pros!, January 6, 2012
This review is from: Sennheiser e935 Cardioid Dynamic Handheld Mic (Electronics)
I have used several mics, EV's (6xx, 967's), AKG's, Shure 58's, Beta 58, Beta 87A, Beta 87C, Sennheiser e835 (a great mic) and this e935. In my opinion and the opinion of many touring bands the e835 & e935's are the Mics of choice (see their equipment list when they hire a sound company). Two reasons these mics are so widely used 1) Sound is great!! 2) Feedback rejection.
What is the one thing that drives you most nuts when playing live? Getting the headroom, a clean sound and NO feedback. This mic delivers all that and at a VERY affordable price. Some would say the e935 is for higher voices (tenors and female vocalists), I disagree totally, I'm naturally a baritone but can sing to mid-tenor range and I love how this mic works with my voice, true, cuts through the mix (over 3 rocking guitar players with 100 watt Mesa, Marshall & (a 60 watt) Vox; amps, eg. Skynyrd, Hatchet, etc.). I can go from Stray Cats to Elvis to Creed to Nickleback to metal and still be vocally out in front. Of course, the PA you are using makes a difference also (I use an Allen & Heath board (great pre-amps in this board) + QSC Powered speakers). But I've heard these mics through less expensive PA's and again, sound and feedback rejection are what matters most when you're in front of several hundred to a few thousand people.
