Not bad for the price, but not Sensa-quality., June 3, 2006
This review is from: Sensa Cloud 9 Black Thunder Ballpoint Pen - N12006 (Office Product)
I had one of the original Sensa pens in black for a number of years. It wrote beautifully with the thick "Fisher Space Pen" ink on all sorts of surfaces. It felt solid in my hands, and had a pleasantly smooth twisting mechanism to extend and retract the pen point. I loved it and used it every day until it was swiped from my desk.
Not so with this pen. It has the signature Sensa grip, a material they dub "Plasmium," but that's where the similarities end. The pen feels made of cheap plastic and the twisting mechanism is not nearly as smooth and in an awkward position -- in the center of the pen. With the old Sensa pen, one could easily flick the pen open by sliding the thumb on the twisty cap. Using the pen felt seamlessly transparent. Here, on the Cloud9, you cannot do this. You must twist it with two hands or in the very least, two fingers on the barrel and the others on the grip. This may seem trivial, but it is not as easy or pleasurable to use this way. Opening the pen, I expected to find a pressurized space pen cartridge -- nope. Just another, normal ballpoint pen. The plastic feels cheap and flimsy, and since the pen is so lightweight it has a very awkward balance in the hand while writing.
On the other hand, the Sensa Cloud9 writes well (though not like the originals) and has a comfortable grip. It writes as well as my cheap pen of choice, the Pentel R.S.V.P Med. Pt. but is otherwise unimpressive.

Extremely comfortable, good pen, April 22, 2005
This review is from: Sensa Cloud 9 Black Thunder Ballpoint Pen - N12006 (Office Product)
I've been using this pen extensively for over three months. The soft gel grip is extremely comfortable and molds nicely to your fingers in a way other pens don't. The Sensa actually helped me learn to grip pens better so that I no longer cramp up when writing for long periods of time.
Looks nice, feels great, writes well. Good pen for the price.

Squishy Grip, Comfy & Fun, April 22, 2005
This review is from: Sensa Cloud 9 Black Thunder Ballpoint Pen - N12006 (Office Product)
The gel grip makes the Sensa Cloud 9 comfortable to write with for long periods of time. The ink distribution is pleasing and solid as you write across the page. No problems whatsoever. I keep this one around the house, and a Fisher Space Pen for compact travel. Everyone should own a good pen or two!
