Most Helpful Customer Reviews

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful By M. Barrett on March 25, 2008
Format: Hardcover
Zuckerman builds on his earlier work around the Sensation Seeking Personlity and draws together the most recent research and case material to hammer his points home. More extensive connectivity between risk addiction and drug abuse is brought forth as well as new categrories of risky behavior. His Summary sections concluding each chapter are wonderful as they provide honest feedback on actual treatment results or the lack thereof. Pastors, therapists, and school administrators should read through this book to get a better understanding of what afflicts (or blesses) some of us. Well done Dr. Zuckerman.

This is latest book of Dr Zuckerman on the topic of Sensation Seeking, but it mainly covers the risky behavior aspect of high sensation seekers. Dr Zuckerman older book "Behavioral expressions and biological bases of sensation seeking" is a more comprehensive text book on the topic. This book contains a sample of SIMP.

Extremely well researched. It gives a good analysis of how sensation seeking is tied to law enforcement officers and to alcoholics.
