"1974: Year of Resignation" focus on national and world events that made headlines the year I graduated from high school. Certainly Nixon's resignation on August 8 was the high point of the year, but Hank Aaron appears on the cover for breading Babe Ruth's all-time home run record to make things a more upbeat. Of course the headlinesthat year were dominated by the House Impeachment hearings and the political repercussions of Watergate. But this tape will also remind us of the arguments over the Arctic pipeline, demonstrations for gay rights, and strikes by truckers as well as people in the news like Gerald Ford and Chris Evert. One of the interesting things about this particular tape is how some events and people, like India developing nuclear weapons and Yasir Arafat, are important to what is happening in the world today. All of the tapes in the Sensational 70's series are 48 minutes long, which makes them the right length for most classrooms, but the focus on just the one year might be too narrow to be of much use. However, I think these tapes are ideal if you want to remember what happened in 1974 because that was the year you were born, got married, had a kid, graduated high school, or whatever.

Longer than interesting. Dry documentary style. Left out fashion, music, TV programs and ads from '74.
