From 1972 to 1978, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band dazzled fans with a unique combination of rock and performance art in clubs and small halls in Europe and North America. But the band's releases can be split into two segments in the U.S.; 1972-1975 - when albums were available domestically - and 1975-1978, when collectors eagerly awaited releases to reach the import bins in area record shops.

Though nearly all of the SAHB albums have been reissued on CD - with some available in a remastered set of two albums on two CD's per release - it's again through the import route to try and track them down. For someone looking to hear SAHB for the first time - or for fans look to supplement their collection - this 14-track collection, originally released in 1992, is as good as it gets.

Delilah was a hit single in Great Britain, but there is an incredible amount of power in the package - Action Strasse, Sergeant Fury, Next, The Last Of The Teenage Idols, The Faith Healer - that allows the retrospective to stand on its own merits as a salute to an incredible performer and the artistry of his band.

If you are familiar with The Sensational Alex Harvey Band (SAHB) through a song or two, and I doubt that many folks are, then this cd is the place to start. SAHB had a big following and a lot of airplay here in Cleveland back in the 70's at WMMS when that station was the best in the land and "All Sensations" covers just about all of the heavy airplay hits minus "The Man in the Jar." SAHB is a blast- musically they are hard rockin',the songs are fun and theatrical even without seeing them due to Alex's unique vocal style. This is a cheaper way to go than trying to find imported reissues of the original albums. Buy it, listen and have one for Alex.

I am pleased to find a couple of rare classic rock songs on this CD that I had on vinyl but needed an upgrade. Very good "Greatest Hits" collection by a British band that never quite caught on here in the States.
