Do you wonder why God doesn't hear your prayers?,
By
This review is from: Sense And Nonsense About Prayer (Paperback)
The Bible teaches that there are conditions that must be met if God is to favorably answer our prayers. This book compiles those conditions into 123 pages. Everything Strauss says here is based on Scripture, so you can read this book with confidence. Strauss is not just making this stuff up. His writing is usually very accessible and can be understood the first time, so you won't have to go back and re-read paragraphs for comprehension. This is a book that is not just for pastors and theologians. It's also extremely practical and one that I would recommend to every Christian. The chapter titles are:
1. Sense or Nonsense? (in which Strauss documents some of the more nonsensical prayers he has heard) 2. Prayer and Unconfessed Sin 3. Prayer and Selfishness 4. Prayer and the Holy Spirit 5. Prayer in Jesus' Name 6. Prayer and Faith 7. Prayer and Unforgiveness 8. Prayer and the Will of God 9. Prayer and Thanksgiving 10. Prayer and Abiding 11. Prayer and Giving 12. Prayer and the Marriage Relationship 13. Prayer and Fasting 14. History's Most Debated Prayer (a line-by-line teaching on what is commonly known as "The Lord's Prayer") 15. The Prayer Life of Jesus (full of application for people who want to have a powerful prayer life!) 16. Questions and Answers I read at an average speed and I read the entire book in 4 hours.

SENSE AND NONSENSE ABOUT PRAYER,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sense And Nonsense About Prayer (Paperback)
If you're looking for an inspiring book on prayer, this is it! I added this title to my library over 20 years ago and have often pulled it out to re-read portions. Lehman Strauss was blessed with an ability to write with conviction and humor. This is not, as one might expect, a dry, boring book, but one of substance delivered with humor and has the potential to encourage anyone in their prayer life. Over the years I have often given this book as a gift. I highly recommend 'Sense and Nonsense About Prayer'. Since this book is becoming harder to find, I am grateful to be able to order it through Amazon.
