They convinced me.,
This review is from: Sense and Nonsense about Heaven and Hell (Paperback)
I am a conservative Christian who did his own study on the Biblical view of Hell. I had come to the tentative conclusion that Jesus taught a certain type of Annihilationism (specifically, that those not forgiven of their sins by Jesus went to Hell for a finite period of time, the length dependant upon the severity of their sins, and then simply ceased to exist). I had read multiple books on the subject, and presented my view to multiple scholars. But it was not until I read this book that I was convinced of the faults of my view. They addressed every single one of my objections to the eternity of Hell in a very clear manner. Formal theological education is not necessary to easily follow the arguments in the book. I highly recommend it to anyone who struggles with questions regarding the Biblical view of Heaven and Hell.

A Balanced Examination of Heaven and Hell,

This review is from: Sense and Nonsense about Heaven and Hell (Paperback)
Although this book is fairly small (199 pages), it is packed full of information on the topics of Heaven and Hell.
There is substantial confusion even among Christians about these topics. Part of that is undoubtedly due to the translation of several Greek words into just two words in English language Bibles. This causes frequent misunderstandings. One example is the word 'Hades', which is routinely represented as 'Hell'. The authors show why this should not be the case and clarify meanings. Dr. Kenneth Boa and Robert Bowman Jr. clear up much of the confusion by reviewing what the Scriptures actually say about these subjects. They do it in a way that is easily understandable by lay people. This enlightening study is balanced and very well done. It is well worth getting for anyone who would like increased understanding in this area.

This book clearly exposes common myths (such as universal salvation) that many people have. It backs up statements with Scripture. A very interesting read and very useful for evangelism.

This book served our small group well! We had many enlivening discussions as we tackled some of the misconceptions regarding heaven and hell. I highly recommend this book to any Christian wrestling with questions about life after death. The Biblical references were extremely useful and kept us grounded on the truth of God's Word instead of the many human ideas that we have been bombarded with in our society. Great book!

Good Interesting Book,

This review is from: Sense and Nonsense about Heaven and Hell (Paperback)
The Book was interesting and had a lot of interesting thoughts quite a number of which I don't believe Christians think about, for example, the difference between "living" and "existing". I certainly will return to it from time to time as a reference for study on some of these subjects.

Not what I expected,

This review is from: Sense and Nonsense about Heaven and Hell (Paperback)
The title should have just said, "Nonsense about heaven & hell" because there was no real "SENSE" in the book. I was disapointed that the author spoke a lot about the bible and God, but didn't seem to know what he was acctually talking about, although he came across as if he loves God, it was hard to ignore that he distorted a lot about the real message. I hope this helps, and I know this is just MY opinion.
