A Beautiful Portrait of a Life Lived, February 17, 2008
This review is from: A Sense of the Sacred: A Portrait of Helen M. Luke [VHS] (VHS Tape)
A SENSE OF THE SACRED is a deeply moving video portrait of Helen Luke, who, although not an analyst, was a Jungian in the truest sense of the word. In the two years before her death at the age of 93, Helen Luke conducted a series of filmed interviews illuminating her own quite unusual life's journey and sharing many of the finely-tuned ideas which her experiences helped to develop.
In addition to Luke herself, admirers, friends and colleagues of Helen Luke speak in this inspirational portrait of her life which was distributed by Parabola Magazine. The film, introduced by Thomas Moore, includes interviews with Sir Laurens van der Post and Robert Johnson with whom she shared a practice for many years. There is also footage of the Apple Farm Community that she founded. In the film Helen Luke speaks of her life, describes her unusual meeting with Carl Jung and discusses her analysis with Toni Sussman. Appended to the biography is an interview and tribute to Luke by the eminent director and author, Peter Brook.
