This review is from: Sense of Survival (Paperback)
By far the most comprehensive book I have read on the subject of Emergency Preparedness. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in being prepared for natural disasters, accidents, war, famine, or any other emergency. This book is well written, organized, easy to understand and full of practical, useful information for everyone! An OUTSTANDING book!!!

THE BEST SURVIVAL MANUAL I OWN!,
This review is from: Sense of Survival (Paperback)
SUBTITLED "A COMP[REHENSIVE GUIDE" & TRULY LIVES UP TO THE CLAIM. 336 PAGES JAM PACKED WITH SURVIVAL INFO PRESENTED IN A VERY READABLE STYLE. FILLED WITH MORE INFO THAN A TEXTBOOK BUT AS EASY TO DIGEST AS A CHAT WITH AN OLD BUDDY. INNUMERABLE LISTS OF OTHER LITERATURE & SOURCES FOR 100'S OF INFORMATION, EQUIPMENT, & SUPPLIES FROM 72 HOUR PREPACKAGED KITS TO NUCLEAR PREPARATIONS. YOU WILL FIND MORE STUFF IN THIS ONE BOOK THAN IN ANY OTHER ONE BOOK. IF I COULD HAVE ONLY ONE BOOK ON SURVIVAL I WOULD WANT IT TO BE THIS ONE. I CANNOT PRAISE IT ENOUGH. DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT. NEXT TO A GOOD GUN, A GOOD KNIFE, AGOOD DOG, AND MAYBE A GOOD WOMAN IF ONE COULD BE FOUND THIS BOOK IS AMONG THE MOST INDISPENCIBLE NEEDS IN AN EMERGENCY DISASTER SCENARIO WHEN THE ORGANIC FERTILIZER COLLIDES WITH THE ATMOSPHERIC OSCILLATOR.

The Second Book a Prepper Should Buy,
By Faith "Faith" (North Carolina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sense of Survival (Paperback)
I recently reviewed "Surviving the Economic Collapse" by Ferfal, and I consider that the first book for a prepper to buy, because it explains what to do in case of severe, slow, prolonged economic downturns.
This is the second book to buy. "Sense of Survival" covers what Ferfal does not: what to do in case of full-scale, fast-acting disasters such as nuclear war. I have several survivalist books with scary titles and scary covers. Many of these books made me feel helpless and afraid; they detail advanced tactical information that a beginner like me did not need. This book (and Ferfal's book) are different in that they are written for newbies. They assume that you are an ordinary person, perhaps with kids, pets, a mortgage, etc. "Sense of Survival" is well researched, and it distills the essential information for a beginner. My favorite section explained how to store food for the long term, including an excellent explanation of how much food one person needs to live for one year. (It was more food that I expected!) As a newbie gardener, I also liked the section on gardening; it's so well-distilled that I use it as much as my big country living encyclopedia. The nuclear section is also useful. It starts out with a very technical explanation (which I skimmed) but wraps up with a lot of practical advice (which I read closely). The language throughout the book is upbeat, friendly and hopeful. It is illustrated with several helpful diagrams and amusing illustrations.

This review is from: Sense of Survival (Paperback)
If you want a great book to place in your car trunk, or a 72-hour kit then get this book. It covers a lot of ground and would save your life in a disaster if you had it available.

Stupid,
This review is from: Sense of Survival (Paperback)
This book is stupid. For a survival book, it is high on talk and light on useful fact. There is an entire section with sketches of various Soviet rockets, missiles, aircraft, and submarines. Even during the cold war, when this book was first published, how is my survival affected by the sketch showing the difference between the Minuteman II and Minuteman III missile? The whole book is filled with this useless nonsense. Don't both with it. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.
