Editorial Reviews

When pioneering environmentalist Rachel Carson published Silent Spring in 1962, the backlash from her critics thrust her into the center of a political maelstrom. Despite her love of privacy, Carson s convictions and her foresight regarding the risks posed by chemical pesticides forced her into a very public and controversial role. Struggling with cancer, Carson recounts with both humor and anger the attacks by the chemical industry, the government, and the press as she focuses her limited energy to get her message to Congress and the American people.

A SENSE OF WONDER is an intimate and poignant reflection of Carson's life as she emerges as America's most successful advocate for the natural world.

Very well done and performed.

It deals with Carson's desire to write, how she digressed along the way, how she realized her goal, and the impact Silent Springs had on her personal life.

This is a very good performance of an actress portraying Rachel Carson, author of Silent Spring, being interviewed.

An informative and deeply moving biographical play written and performed by Miss Lee, who portrays Rachel Carson in her late years as she tells the story of her early love of writing, her discovery of science, her reaction to the impact of "Silent Spring", her love of and caring for her family and her own struggles with the cancer which eventually killed her. Too short!

This is a very good performance of an actress portraying Rachel Carson, author of Silent Spring, being interviewed. It is thoughtful and you feel that she is having a visit with you. It is full of surprises about the life of Rachel Carson and the interviews with real family and friends at the end seals the enjoyment of this quiet gem.

AMAZING movie for you Rachel Carson buffs. The writer and actress who plays Carson understood and portrayed her exactly as I imagined and knew Carson to be. The dialogue also comes primarily from Carson's writing, so historically it's extremely accurate. A solid length - 50-some mins - not too long or short, and beautifully portraying the last few months of Rachel's life in an accurate and touching way. Love this film!
