Hilarious Tales from a Teacher in Japan,
By Pubgoblin "pubgoblin" (Japan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sensei-tional! Confessions of English Teachers in Japan (Paperback)
"Senseitional" is a really funny collection of true stories from people teaching English in Japan ("sensei" means teacher in Japanese). There a lots of awkward and embarrassing situations involving dating students, getting drunk, and some wild run-ins with gangsters and transvestites!
The book is a little short, but the illustrations are great, and it's funny throughout. It's definitely worth reading if you have lived in Japan (or plan to.)

okay,
This review is from: Sensei-tional! Confessions of English Teachers in Japan (Paperback)
first I wish I could give this a 2.5 star rating, rather than a 2. This rather short book(100 pages, LARGE type) is a bit on the disappointing side to me. Too many of the stories are too similar i.e. gaijin drunk/hungover in public or two people sleeping with the same woman without the other knowing. There just isn't any detail to the stories, I was expecting more. These situations could've taken place any other foreign country in the world. I was expecting more about the day to day life about living in Japan as an English teacher. The stories seem much more suited for a blog, which according to one review they were.

Worth the laugh,

For anybody who wants to appreciate the intricacies of living in Japan, this is a great book to have. It's full of stories from real individuals fighting to make their days in Japan worth every lost brain cell. I've followed "Rex Cheesney"'s blog for quite some time and it's exciting to be able to share some of his stories with friends offline.
