My first Bella Cucina Belgian Waffle Iron lasted just over a year (used two or three times a month) and then it quit working--likely the thermostat.

After going through a year with an expensive ($100) Belgian waffle iron (Villaware) that produced heavy, tasteless, white-on-top-brown-on-the-bottom waffles, this Bella waffler is a fantastic difference!

The Bella Rotating Belgian Waffle Maker is everything I was looking for. With the same batter I used in the previous over-priced waffler, I got a completely different waffle: evenly browned, amazingly deep and light, and even better tasting! This is the way Belgian waffles should be. There is a learning curve on how much batter to put into the iron but once you figure it out, the waffles are a work of art.

The price was right, too. The tray is a nice addition, catching any drips that occur. All in all, this is a great waffle maker.

We bought this waffle iron at a local store less than a year ago. We probably used it 20 times. It heated well and made great waffles, but the handle came off. Nothing actually broke, but there is no effective way to retighten the handle due to a very poor design. I believe the stress of turning the handle to flip the waffle as recommended is responsible for loosening it a little bit at a time. Since the waffle maker is designed to be turned this way, I see no way it could be avoided. I would recommend looking for something sturdier.

The Sensio 13124 Bella Cucina Belgian Waffle Maker is a great product for making perfect waffles at home, but its quality of craftsmanship has much to be desired. After having the unit and making perfect waffles for 6 months, the handle broke. Now the unit is useless. I called the manufacturer to order a replacement handle and they have been out of stock for 4 months. Every time I called, they said to call back the middle of the next month. If you want a waffle maker that you can use for more than a year...this isn't it.

While this product makes EXCELLENT waffles, the handle breaks and there is no way to repair it. I've been through two. It's a shame, since the rest of the design is great.

I cannot believe that this piece of junk has not been recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. As is noted by others, the hinge was made to break. Imagine having a hot waffle iron break apart in your hands. Rest assured that I will see to it that this product is removed from the shelves.

I bought this waffle iron from Macys. While the waffles were good, the iron itself was really cheap feeling. There are a lot of plastic parts that do not seem to do the job. When rotating the iron 180 degrees, the plastic latch did not lock. There is a blue light that is supposed to indicate when the waffle is done ... this did not work for me. So ... be careful. I was skeptical that this would last any great length of time, and so I returned it.

I noticed this waffle iron's most significant design flaw as soon as I took it out of the box--the waffle grids can't be removed for cleaning. The instruction manual recommends "wiping the grids with a soft cloth," which anyone who has ever made a waffle will realize will do next to nothing to actually clean the iron. Since I don't want to cook with a dirty waffle iron, I use a scrub brush over my sink to carefully wash the unplugged unit, and allow it to dry thoroughly between uses. This is not a great way to have to clean an electrical appliance, and I wish that it had snap-out grids as my older waffle iron has.

The waffles it produces cook evenly and are deeper than most waffle irons produce, but do not get very brown. Cooking a waffle on the highest setting for twice the recommended cooking time only gives me a lightly golden waffle. The ready light is useless, since it goes on and off at random, so I usually set a timer or wait until the steam stops to remove the waffle.

The swiveling part of the handle is also rather flimsy--mine hasn't broken yet, but it has jammed or come off its track several times while it was hot, causing potentially hazardous inconveniences.

On the whole, I can't recommend this product, primarily because of the difficulty in cleaning it. I used to make waffles every morning with my old waffle iron (with removable grids); cleaning this one is such a pain that I use it much less frequently. I really think that this is one of those kitchen appliances that is designed to be used once and then forgotten or thrown away.

Got this as a gift. I make waffles every sunday for my husband. I make my waffles from scratch. I have used this junk for almost 6 months now and have yet to have it produce a waffle that is even satisfactory. I have tried to make every adjustment possible to my recipe, which I shouldn't have to do. If I use non stick spray the waffle can be left in the iron for 3 days and not be brown, even at the highest setting. If I use nothing the waffle sticks to the inside and pulls apart when the iron is opened. And yet still won't be browned. When I flip the iron over using the handle it rocks back 15 degrees and the batter runs out the side, so I have to stand there and hold it. I had a very old very cheap iron before I received this and I never had any problems and never made any adjustments to my recipe. I have tested this same recipe in my parents waffle maker with no problems as well. I have put up with this horrible tool for far too long. I am getting rid of it and buying a new one from a different company.
