I saw this and immediately thought "Takoyaki!!", which are little dumplings with bits of octopus, other seafood, or whatever you want in the middle.

I am having some trial and error with this. The batter isn't as thick and doesn't have as many eggs as traditional cake batter, so I'm finding it sticks to the cups even with oil. Still, even my first attempt turned out tasting good and reasonably spherical.Plus, 20 dollars is hard to pass up. The size is not overly large, either, so stashing it in a cabinet will be easy even in a smaller kitchen.

Pros: small size, easy use, cute color, decent price

Cons: I wish it had more cups, perhaps 8 to 12.

Bella Cake Pops & Donut Hole Maker

Just tried it out, I suggest buying a pancake pen to fill the wells and a metal dipping fork to help get the balls out. I used boxed cake mix and I sprayed the machine with cooking spray before I put the first batch in and I had no problems taking the cake balls out. Each batch took around 4-5 minutes to make. I love this little machine.

Second Update

Machine still working good. It beats spending over $2.00 for a cake pop at starbucks. I prefer these cake pops instead of those that are mixed with frosting. Thinking about buying a second cake pop machine.

Let me start out by saying that maybe I just got a malfunctioning product, but it didn't bake evenly at all. About every other cake pop would be raw while the others would burn. It also didn't seem very convenient to me, by the time I made my cake batter and baked 6 pops at a time I could have done an entire 9" two layer cake (and probably gotten it half decorated). I used homemade batter, not mix, but I don't think that would have anything to do with the cooking time... it certainly doesn't change the time I bake in the oven.
All in all it's a cute idea, but I think I'm going to try the cake pop pan that goes in the oven.

Excellent item! Makes cake pops in as little as 6 minutes. I just dipped them in chocolate and I was the hit of the party. Worked perfectly, highly recommend.

Not sure what the people who says this doesn't work are talking about. It is easy and fun. Spray people and they won't stick. And, only 5 minutes worked for me with the additional 1 minute with the top open as in instructions. I used Duncan Hines (Red Velvet) as well and dipped in Duncan Hines frosting (microwave for a few seconds). We have batter left so we'll do more later this week and next, Brownie Cake Pops! We even bought the sticks.

Here is a tip: Use a plastic bottle like a ketchup or mustard bottle you buy (I found a clear one from Target) for getting the right amount of batter in the holes without any mess. It takes patience to get the batter in the bottle but it really worth the effort and makes it easier for my daughter to do this herself (mess free).

First of all, this product sucks. It takes forever to make these stupid things and you constantly have to be taking them out, filling them, etc. It is much easier to just use a watermelon baller or ice cream scoop to make the balls. Secondly, the directions are HORRIBLE. It says you can add a splash of milk to the chips to make it thinner but I tried this twice on two different batches and it ruined it both times! It congeals the chips and makes them at a disgusting consistency so that you are at a point of no return and you cant use the chips anymore. You must throw them out and either restart or just quit. This is the worst product I have used and i highly recommend that you use SOMETHING else to make your cake pops. The Baby Cakes maker (I have heard) has generally good feedback and I would suggest it.

My son loves making his own cake pops. Easy to make, remove and they cook very quick so the kids are happy when they don't have to wait for a treat.

I really do not know how those who got decent cake pops did it. We tried and tried and couldn't get anything that would resemble a cake pop. We tried decreasing and increasing batter a number of times and tried adjusting the time. I used box batter and followed all instructions and my Mom did the same. I would not recommend to anyone.
