Reference: 'Not exactly "22.5-585mm" zoom' discussion.

If the L810 sensor shape were 4x6, that would be the same shape as the Nikon DSLR cameras. Prorating 585mm zoom for a 24mm x 36mm size to the equivalent 104m zoom would yield a size of 4.26mm x 6.4mm.

It is not exactly clear the right way to equivalently compare a 3x4 shape with a 4x6 zoom. Let's suppose Nikon did it so as to give bigger "equivalent" focal lengths. That would mean the sensor size would be 4.26mm x 5.68mm.

Note that the Nikon web site says the sensor size is "1/2.3 in."

I have no idea what that is supposed to mean. With about 25.25mm per inch and the longest actual dimension of 5.68mm, the longest actual dimension in inches is 0.225 in.. I don't see how they go from 1/2.3 to 0.225.
