Big Thumbs Up!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sensual Men (Hardcover)
"The long awaited first book featuring 80 duotone images from artist Jeff Palmer has just been published by Bruno Gmunder of Germany. This exceptional monograph features the powerfully sensual images that the artist is known for -- romantic, erotic, honest and beautiful.Sensual Men reveals the more seductive nature of Jeff's work as well as some of his timeless classics -- a certain choice for collectors and admirers of the male nude. This 6 1/2 by 9 1/2 hard bound volume is an attractive addition to any collection."

Aptly Titled: A Paean to the Masculine Form,
By Grady Harp (Los Angeles, CA United States) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (TOP 50 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Sensual Men (Paperback)
Jeff Palmer is a recognized leading photographer of the male nude and in this recently released paperback version of his earlier book of the same name the evidence for that reputation is clear. Palmer understands the volume, the mass, the surface, and the ethos of the muscular male.Presented completely in rich duotones, every page (with the fine exception of some double paged layouts) features muscular men at times fully nude, at times with portions of clothing or drape, at times alone and at other times coupled with another model. The beauty of these images is not simply the beauty of the models (though that is ample), but in the moments of captured rapture, idylls of repose, and passion both active and passive. His use of light and light patterns highlight some of the models' skin: in one he creates striped bands of light and shadow while the model on the opposite page lies languid in a pool with plumeria blossoms, and in others he uses the magic of water spraying on the tanned forms to contrast liquid with solid. With today's increasingly sophisticated audience willing to forego some phobic prejudices, this beautiful little volume should find a receptive readership. Highly recommended. Grady Harp, November 05

Below par.,

A bit of a disappointment. Mostly pictures of over-developed men in various types of embraces. Also, the pages are quite small. There are much better books around.

This review is from: Sensual Men (Bruno Gmunder Greats) (Paperback)
The book was smaller in stature and length than I expected (my fault, I know, since the page count and dimensions are listed, but still). The small paperback looks and feels more like a "booklet" than anything you'd put on a coffee table and it would easily disappear between to larger books on your bookshelf. In terms of content, this isn't a "bad" set of images... but most of the photos and models portrayed in the book don't quite live up to the hopes expectations set by the cover image. Bottom line: If you've got a collection and are only interested in making a *small* addition, this book could fit the bill. However, if you're looking for a male photography book to enjoy on its own or to help start or establish your collection, keep looking.

Great for the coffee table but don't forget when mom visits!,

This review is from: Sensual Men (Hardcover)
My only complaint is that this book maybe on the high-end on pricing. Other than that it is a great book to keep on the coffee table when your gay friendly guests visits but not for your nephew when he wants a book to read. Also the pictures are very sensual, artistic, and makes you want to go to the gym!
