4.0 out of 5 stars A somewhat dated, though timeless comming of age guide to sex, October 16, 1999
This review is from: Sensuous Man, The (Paperback)
I first read this book in the fall of 1973 as a junior in high school. A rather ignorant and scared one. The title held my hand at one of the most difficult times in a soon to be young man's life.

It is a combination of tutor, mentor, MD, Father, older Brother, coach, and Hugh Hefner. Not quite the "Kama Sutra" but more than "Penthouse Letters", "The Sensuous Man" lays out the truths and myths of male-female contact sports. It is factual, confidence building, humorous, broad and this is notable...... highly ethical.

I recomend the "The Sensuous Man" for driving age boys through college age men, and for other men without the time required for say "Joy of Sex" or like manuals. I am purchasing a copy to place in my library for the day my son comes of age and indeed for my own continuing education and amusment!

4.0 out of 5 stars Should be required reading for young men, May 2, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Sensuous Man, The (Paperback)
My sister of all people gave me this book years ago. I and all of my partners have undoubtedly benefitted from my possession of it. Although a few of the ideas are dated, given its age, the basic info presented is timeless, pertinent, and not at all inappropriate. It's a serious work that prioritizes how a man should treat a woman, for their mutual satisfaction. This is not a work of erotica, it's the "birds and bees" talk you should have gotten from your old man.

4.0 out of 5 stars Older but insightful, August 29, 2005

I read this book back when I was about 16. I was rummaging through the basement and found an old copy of my dad's. Having been written in the early 1970s, it's a bit dated in a few parts (the pickup lines seem incredibly tacky to me), but 90% of the advice and knowledge given in the book is dead on. When I first saw the cover of dad's aged copy, I was expecting a lothario primer. Far from it, the book gives great advice on how to please a woman both in and out of bed. Certainly enlightened me about the Velvet Buzzsaw. It's also surprisingly ethical, warning the reader to stay away from adulterous affairs and admonishing men not to hold women to double standards. I'd recommend it for any man who wants to learn more lovemaking techniques, or any man who needs to learn a little lesson in respect.

5.0 out of 5 stars SENSUOUS MAN, February 21, 2005
This review is from: Sensuous Man, The (Paperback)
When my father died, he left me with very few possesions,

I inherited his looks, his values, and the old tattered copy of
"The Sensous Man" by M. I read the book cover to cover, when I found it at the tender age of 15,or 16. Without learning the
things in this book, i would have never learned how to find love, and truly satisfy the love of my life. It really taught me
how to be a gentleman.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just a "How To" manual. Instead a "How To Be" philosophy!, December 11, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sensuous Man, The (Paperback)
I first read "The Sensuous Man" as an eighteen year old soon after it was first published back in the early seventies. I embraced the book not only for its sexual advice in the physical sense, but more importantly, for the great guidance it gave me in the psychological sense. This book changed my entire attitude toward sex and instilled in me a life altering sexual ideal.

Before reading "The Sensuous Man", I was just an average sexually ignorant kid devoid of any relevant knowledge of how to satisfy women. Worse that that, because of my ignorance I lacked sexual confidence. When it came to women, I had no directional life compass and no intelligent goals. Like all of my peers, whether they realized it about themselves or not, I was floundering with no real help in sight. Then I had the great fortune of coming across "The Sensuous Man".

Upon reading this wonderful book by "M", everything changed. It made me understand that sexual ability is half mental and the other half is in the brain. It trained, it encouraged, it made humor, and it dispelled rumors. It did all this for the sole purpose of making me a better sexual partner and a more competent human being. The book gave me the ability to realize that I was the sexual equal of any man and superior to most. Infinitely more important than that, it made me realize that I was able to totally please and fulfill any woman, anywhere, and at any time. This knowledge gave me limitless confidence. The book became for me not just an information source, but created an entire change in my life philosophy. In a positive way it completely changed how I viewed myself and how I viewed women. It gave me the ability to completely understand what my role in the sexual universe should be. It showed me the path to become a Sensuous Man.

A year after reading the book, I met the lady who would be my wife and lifelong partner. I am proud to say that our sexual relationship has always been tremendous from day one to last evening. And if our paths were to part, I have the inner knowledge and confidence of knowing that, even after all these years have passed, I would be able to fulfill any woman. I place full credit for this liberating life attitude to the book and my adherence to its philosophy and its principles. If author "M" were reading, I would thank him profusely and tell him the profound affect he and his work had on my life. My sexual goals, my positive sexual attitude, and the great confidence I possess has been with me since the day I closed the book and will stay with me until the day my book is closed.

Some reviews I have read indicate that "The Sensuous Man" has become dated and suggest that it may have become somewhat obsolete. To those cynics I say that vernacular and communication medias may change. But as long as we can legitimately call ourselves human beings, the highly important messages presented in the book, its philosophy and principles, remain absolutely timeless. If you read the book and understand its true message, then you too will become "The Sensuous Man". If you embrace the book and make life philosophy changes consistent with its messages, you will have the power of ultimate sexual self confidence and total understanding of what it takes to completely satisfy and fulfill any woman. With this knowledge and with a new lifestyle attitude, your life, and the lives of those you love, will be filled with total happiness and complete satisfaction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Although sexual mores have changed somewhat, the effective sexual techniques explained here are timeless, April 15, 2009
This review is from: Sensuous Man, The (Paperback)
This book, along with "The Sensuous Woman" was a hot item when I was in high school. The book had just been published and a copy was passed around among my friends, both male and female. We had frequent discussions regarding the content and there were pro and con positions about many of the points of advice. However, for the times, the content was a dramatic shift from what had previously been published in the mainstream book press. It was a sensation in that topics such as oral sex, pre-marital and extra-marital sex were openly discussed without being condemned.
In the following three decades and continued relaxing of the censorship laws, the content has become rather tame in comparison. Nevertheless, the primary theme was then and always will be a sound one. For a man to be a great lover, he must consider the feelings and pleasure of his partner, giving her sexual joy must remain paramount in his mind. In this book, the author puts forward some simple, yet effective advice of how to raise your sexual game to one of the level of a star.

This review is from: Sensuous Man, The (Paperback)
This book was so helpful. I used to be such a shy, introverted guy, but now, I got a lady on my arm every night. I'll never be lonely again. Thank you, M! It's much better than that "The Game" book.

5.0 out of 5 stars To The Publisher, May 25, 2007
This review is from: Sensuous Man, The (Paperback)
After reading your comment that the way men and women make love has changed, all I can say is, I don't think you have made love to enough people. A woman may want more than good looks and a good line and of course, women have every right to do so. But there are so, so many out there, especially as a man strolls blithely by the mile marker of his fortieth year, who are eager to accept a man who has two arms, two legs and a winning smile.

This book is a good read, especially if you are a cad.
