Nostalgic-easy listening and sing along music,

How I admire Kathie Lee in her devotion to exel in everything she does. The timing she has as she sings these wonderful memorable songs. As I drive along I am constantly trying to get the timing down as I attempt to sing along with the cassette. I have noticed the difference in her singing since she has been taking lessons all these years. Just keeps getting better and better. I have always wanted to see one of her shows but haven't been able to yet. I highly recommend this albumn, cd or cassette. I would love to see this type of entertainment come back. Where shows are shows, songs are understandable and people are as loving and giving as Kathie Lee is. Thank you for being such an inspiration for me Kathie.

I tell you, if I were Kathie Lee Gifford, I would bronze myself because I would be aware of my own greatness!

Kathie Lee's finest,

This is one of the few albums I've heard where practically every track is a delight from start to finish. It's like a mint julep on a hot summer's day ---- pleasant, refreshing, and smooth. Every song on this CD has been recorded many times before, and by the pantheon of great American singers. You won't find any undiscovered musical nuggets here. What makes this album a standout, however, is that everything on it is just right: Mrs. Gifford's singing, the first-rate backup arrangements, and the quality of the recorded sound. If I had to single out one special aspect that particularly appeals to me, it would be Kathie Lee's understated delivery. Instead of an obvious "belt-'em-out" performance, she goes for a more relaxed presentation, as if she were gently singing to her kids before bedtime. While this approach may not work that well in a live performance, it invites the listener to repeated spins of this very special CD.

Being British, I know nothing about Kathie's career in television (her fame did not cross the Atlantic), so I can judge her purely on her musical ability. I only discovered her through the internet. My first two CD's of Kathie's were this one and the Christmas CD, and they are my two favorites of Kathie's.Kathie is particularly good at the slow, romantic songs with which this collection is filled. Yes, there are (slightly) better versions of some of the songs, particularly by some of the great ladies of the forties and fifties - but Kathie can be proud of these versions, which are among the best modern covers of these songs. You can believe that Kathie means it when she sings When I fall in love, it will be forever, by the sincerity in her voice. So it is with the rest of this excellent album - a lovely, romantic album which sets a mood. If you are put off Kathie's music because of her other work, I can understand - I tend to avoid work by British celebrities (or American celebrities who become famous in Britain) unless they can prove themselves on merit. Yet, occasionally, they do just that. Try to forget Kathie's TV career. Judge her music as you would judge anybody else. If you can do that, and you also love the old songs from the Great American Songbook, you will surely love this album. And if you do, remember to buy her Christmas CD when the season comes round again.

Kathie Lee has the most pleasant voice to listen to I know of and the selection of songs on this album are well suited to her voice. She has kept with what works for her and I would recommend this album to anyone. Those who says she can't sing must for some unknown reason be biased against her just because she is "Kathie Lee."

Kathie Lee Gifford, out of date standards, sure to be too syrupy, schmaltzy, corny. Well, I had to listen to it as I wrote this review. That's only fair. And guess what? She has a beautiful voice, the orchestrations are nice, it is soothing not grating. Think elegant restaurant, linens, crystal, candlelight, champagne, a classy piano bar. Yes, the album is truly Sentimental, but in a nice way. It brings back memories of times that were more formal, gracious, dignified and simpler in a better way. Perhaps we should take a step back and rethink some of our tastes, fahions and foibles. This is an enjoyable listen if you just let it be; without looking at it with the cynicism and fast-paced glasses that the current world frequently does. Just maybe we should take time to plan a nice meal with the fine china, the crystal and Kathie Lee singing in the background. Sometimes romance is refreshing and relaxation is in order. Nothing frenetic here, just smooth music by a very, very nice voice. This album sells cheap, so you can't go wrong even if you play it rarely for those special intimate dinners. If you have kids, perhaps they can stay with a friend while you rekindle the romance. If you are a young person, dress up and pretend that you are back in the 1940s or early '50s. Try something different. You just might succumb to the charm of this album.

Gifford's performance is first rate. She has obviously worked hard with her conductor and the orchestra to stay true to the wonderful songs she has chosen. Her delivery and the wonderful arrangments evoke a lovely feeling of romantic nostalgia. The title tune perfectly describes the feeling listeners get when listening to this charming collection.
